What made you get into advertising?
I graduated as a Marine Biologist, but I found labs cold and lonely. So I did two week’s work experience at Grey, way back when, and never left. The creative energy was infectious and still is.
2. Which piece of work are you most proud of, and why?
Even accounting for recency bias, last week’s Scrolling Girl campaign would be it.
It has everything: an incredible cause, a strong idea, a huge list of reasons why it should never have happened and an incredible outcome.
3. What’s the biggest challenge you face in your role right now?
Navigating flood damage works at my house while running a business – just another example of life’s inevitable juggling of competing demands.
4. What’s the most recent thing you’ve learned – professionally or personally?
Not necessarily something new but certainly something I have been recently reminded of…and that’s humility. The industry demands plenty of it.
5. What song best sums up your career so far?
The old Swan lager jingle – “They said you’d never make it”.
