1. What made you get into advertising?
I kind of partied a little too hard during uni and ended up with some pretty average grades.
Back then, Advertising was the only industry that didn’t check your transcript.
2. Which piece of work are you most proud of, and why?
Launching Slather. Not because of the craziness of that brand, but because it’s a totally different shape to the current services led business we do each day.
Beyond the marketing, what we’ve had to do in terms of product development, regulation compliance, distribution, sales etc has been such a real learning experience.
And the fact that we’ve seen a few copycat brands launch is a sign that what we’re doing is right.
3. What’s the biggest challenge you face in your role right now?
We’ve outgrown our current office and looking for a new one, but we still have 12 months left on the lease. Eek!
4. What’s the most recent thing you’ve learned – professionally or personally?
A bit cliché, I know — but your gut / intuition / instinct is almost always bang on.
You can just feel whether something’s right or whether it’s a bit off. So just trust your gut and choose your choice.
5. What song sums up your career in advertising?
‘Busy earnin’ by Jungle – it captures the fun, energy and momentum of working in advertising, but it’s also a real reminder not to let it become all consuming – it’s just ads at the end of the day.
