CB Hot Suit Takes: Sheryl Marjoram, CEO, Clemenger BBDO
CB Hot Suit Takes is our new Q&A series for extremely busy CEOs and senior leaders across the industry ~ covering careers, creativity, challenges and the song that sums it all up. Next in the hot seat is Sheryl Marjoram, CEO, Clemenger BBDO.
1. What made you get into advertising?
Nothing and nobody ‘made me’, I really, really wanted to 🙂
2. Which piece of work are you most proud of, and why?
I have so much work I’m proud of. Come back every month, and I’ll drop a different piece. I’m going to talk about Toxic Toby for now, though. I love the way it proves out the power of attention. For decades, people have been approaching air quality in a rational way. Assuming awareness was all that would be needed for action to take place. Who knew a little teddy could have such an impact, to finally move the needle on the action needed.
3. What’s the biggest challenge you face in your role right now?
Balancing the urgent and the important and the fun. If there isn’t an app for that, there should be. Anyone got time to work on one?
4. What’s the most recent thing you’ve learned – professionally or personally?
Advantage no longer comes from certainty; it comes from adaptability
5. What song best sums up your career so far?
Tubthumping by Chumbawamba would be my song. I am where I am thanks to a mix of luck and consistency.
