CB Hot Suit Takes: Lisa Sutton Gardner, Founder / Director, Enigma
CB Hot Suit Takes is our new Q&A series for extremely busy CEOs and senior leaders across the industry ~ covering careers, creativity, challenges and the song that sums it all up. Next in the hot seat is Lisa Sutton Gardner, Founder / Director, Enigma.
1. What made you get into advertising?
I can’t really remember ever wanting to do anything else. I think it was in Year 9 English that I first got the bug, then I bought a copy of Ogilvy on Advertising and I was hooked. Got my first job on the front desk of a local advertising agency, and 38 years later I’m still in the game.
2. Which piece of work are you most proud of, and why?
I’m a great believer in the old saying “you’re only as good as your last ad”, and I’m really proud of our new creative brand platform for Newcastle Permanent. We’ve enjoyed a successful 25-year partnership with the brand and this new iteration of Here for Good is a cracker. The Head & Heart Approved platform is built on great human insight, and the execution is guaranteed to capture our audiences’ attention. Truly Unignorable work.
3. What’s the biggest challenge you face in your role right now?
Staying front footed and reshaping a 30 year + agency for what comes next to best meet our client needs. Managing change is never easy.
4. What’s the most recent thing you’ve learned – professionally or personally?
The more things change, the more they stay the same.
5. What song best sums up your career so far?
You Don’t Own Me by Lesley Gore. The title speaks for itself 😉
