CB Hot Suit Takes: Hanne Haugen, Business Lead, Bear Meets Eagle On Fire
CB Hot Suit Takes is our new Q&A series for extremely busy CEOs and senior leaders across the industry ~ covering careers, creativity, challenges and the song that sums it all up. Next in the hot seat is Hanne Haugen, Business Lead, Bear Meets Eagle On Fire.
1. What made you get into advertising?
The Levi’s ads of the 90s had a profound effect on me. Realising that making those could be an actual job, is what set me on the path to advertising.
2. Which piece of work are you most proud of, and why?
Picking one Telstra campaign is like Sophie’s Choice. That said, I have a soft spot for our Network Security work. I love how it subverted cybersecurity tropes, making a serious subject memorable by bringing some lightness to it. And obviously, working with Steve Buscemi was pretty amazing.
And a classic, Cats with Thumbs for Cravendale (Wieden+Kennedy London). Introducing Britain to polydactyl cats will always be a source of immense pride for me.
3. What’s the biggest challenge you face in your role right now?
Protecting the work. We live in an era of peak nonsense, making it harder than ever to keep the focus on what we – all of us – are actually here to do.
4. What’s the most recent thing you’ve learned – professionally or personally?
Personally – just how precious time is.
Professionally – to be more patient. Not my strongest trait—but I’m working on it.
5. What song best sums up your career so far?
Bonkers – Dizzee Rascal
