1. What made you get into Advertising?
Hand-pressed hand towels and a cocktail trolley.
Whilst visiting a friend at Lowes in Knightsbridge London I stumbled upon these two items that made me so very happy. I subsequently applied to the graduate scheme at Saatchi & Saatchi in London and miraculously I made it into one of 7 jobs from over 3000 applicants. Sadly, there were no pressed hand towels.
2. Which piece or work are you most proud of and why?
Project Revoice.
This won Grand Prix at Cannes and multiple awards including D&AD. But that is not where the main source of pride comes from. As a team we fundamentally changed the lives of those who lose their voice due to motor-neurone disease by giving them an option to retain their unique identifier. As a leader I couldn’t have been more proud of the creativity and resilience shown by my team to bring this incredible idea to fruition.
3. What’s the biggest challenge you face in your role right now?
Persuading business leaders to invest beyond bottom of funnel performance (sales for today) into priming and consideration activity driving sales for tomorrow.
4. What’s the most recent thing you’ve learned – professionally or personally?
Most brands do not give a f*ck about consideration.
We are doing a lot of work with products and services that have an important and timely consideration period. Ironically mid-funnel consideration is rarely considered. When in fact, it should be an essential and curated part of the marketing funnel. We have helped brands transform their sales by simply shaping a more relevant and interesting content journey.
