You could live like a caveperson or you could just call iSelect in new spot via Fenton Stephens
There is no doubt that there’s a single Australian who isn’t trying to save a few extra dollars right now. And there’s a myriad of ways to do it. You could live in the dark, grow out your hair, wear 7 layers and survive on a diet on canned tuna, or you could just call iSelect. So before returning to the stone age, Melbourne independent Fenton Stephens recommends checking out the huge list of stuff iSelect can help you save on.
Says Jess Wheeler, associate creative director and partner, Fenton Stephens: “We’ve all been doing it. Weird things to tighten the purse strings. I’ve been getting really into Aldi wine. There’s a fantastic Sav Blanc for like six dollars. What am I saying? I don’t even like white. iSelect, please help.”
This, the third ad in an animated series, highlights how iSelect can help you save on a range of household expenses including health, car and home and contents insurance, along with energy and internet bills. In it we see a couple going to extreme measures to save money, when in reality all they really need to do is pick up the phone.
It follows up the first and second ads which focused on savings with internet and energy, and health insurance respectively. All three were animated by the Lumberfly crew at AIRBAG.
Says Warren Hebard, chief marketing officer, iSelect: “Right now, a dollar saved is a dollar earned. Many of us are going out of our way to keep living costs down, like working from home in a puffa jacket and beanie instead of turning the heater on and risking blowing out the energy bill. But chances are most of us are overlooking some really obvious – and much easier – ways to save money, such as shopping around for a better deal on fixed costs like insurance and utilities. That’s where iSelect can help.”

If BankWest and Aldi Tuna ad had a baby.
Enjoying these. Just a bit silly in all the right places.
and they just keep making them.
Bankwest must love it
Lovely animation, well done
The animation is utterly generic. It reminded me to check my Bankwest balance. Is there some sort of downloadable animation stencil available on the net? Why else would you go down this route?
What’s happening to this brand?
It used to be famous and fun. Now it’s this.
Go I&A! Love it!
Struggling to imagine hating on these during the vacuum of boring advertising we’re currently stuck in. Get a grip.
Great work guys!
Pandemic or not this is horrendous. It feels like everything else in the banking/insurance category made ads 8 years ago. Hope it paid nicely.
Imagine thinking a fun little idea like this is horrendous, and then imagine dedicating time and effort to post that online and get worked up about such a thing. Grow up you grub.
Caveman
Been said before, but I only think of Bankwest when I see these ads.
Don’t take it personally, it’s a criticism of an ad. It’s a similar execution to many other ads and isn’t overly funny. I’m all for supporting the industry but I prefer to make it better by pointing out poor work and praising the good stuff. No offence.
My wife’s not in the biz. Every time she sees one of these animated iSelect ads she shouts at the telly. “They’re so bad,” she says, “what’s happened to this brand? They used to do lovely ads.”
She never complains at my place.
Yes, my ‘wife’ who is also ‘not in the biz’ also likes to shout at the telly and make comments on ‘what has happened to brands’ like a regular human being.
The comment section on here is worse than YouTube.
This is another fantastic animation from this series. There’s a lot of negativity here, but from the animation point of view, this is fantastic. People don’t understand how much time and experience it takes to produce results like this. A lot of comedy acting, and detail in each shot. Well done to the production side of Airbag and Lumberfly.
