Special’s LA office wins Cannes Lions ‘Independent Agency of the Year – Engagement’ title
Covering approximately 8,000 entries, or about 40% of all Cannes entries, Special’s “Independent Agency of the Year – Engagement” win spans most of the largest and most tightly contested Cannes Lions categories, including Direct, Media, PR, Brand Experience & Activation, Creative Commerce, Creative Data, and Social & Creator – making it a landmark win for Special’s five-year-old Los Angeles office.
Special US, together with Special Australia, took home the prestigious Cannes Lions Media Grand Prix for ‘Make your own Super Bowl’ for client Uber Eats, as well as a Gold Lion in the Direct category and a Silver Lion in the Brand Experience & Activation category. Special US also won a Silver Lion, again for Uber Eats, in the Creative Effectiveness category for the Uber Eats Super Bowl campaign, ‘Football is for Food’.
The ‘Independent Agency of the Year’ win comes just a week after Special LA was named ‘Global Independent Agency of the Year’ by Campaign in the global awards show in London.
Says Kelsey Hodgkin, CEO & Partner at Special US: “At Special US, we’ve always tried to make work people want to spend time with – work that earns attention by being generous, entertaining and culturally rewarding.
“We’re incredibly grateful to our clients and partners for believing in that ambition and helping prove that effectiveness and entertainment are not opposing forces, but can really supercharge each other in the most wonderful ways.”
Says Tony Bradbourne, Founder, Special: “To be recognised across the largest track by far, which spans the disciplines that are arguably the most important to marketers today, is a huge achievement for the whole Special US team.”
In 2023, Special New Zealand became the first New Zealand agency to win an ‘Independent Agency of the Year’ title, but in the Strategy track, after winning the Health & Wellness Cannes Lion Grand Prix, two Gold Lions, a Silver Lion and a Bronze Lion.
