Jon Holloway Re-joins R/GA Australia as Executive Strategy Director in Agency’s Re-Positioning

Former R/GA Australia MD Jon Holloway, who left the agency in 2016, is re-joining as Executive Strategy Director. The appointment is part of the company’s re-invention to meet the demands of the New Economy.
With disruptive competition entering almost every category and the acceleration of societal change and technology habits creating new consumer behaviours, businesses must change the way they build brands and connect with people. Brands will no longer succeed through ad-funded media alone.
To help clients grow in this reality, R/GA Australia has built a new breed of creative business that combines the strategic rigour of a consultancy with the rapid make culture of an agency.
“With his diverse experience across brand consultancy and innovation, along with being a founder of several startups and leading globally renowned creative work, Jon has the rare capability to combine brand strategy, commercial design and behaviour change,” said Michael Titshall, VP & Managing Director, R/GA Australia.
“These capabilities and his passion for challenging the status quo, makes Jon the perfect strategic leader for R/GA Australia as we continue our journey of building a new breed of creative business.”
Holloway is well positioned to lead the strategic offering of this new proposition having worked across startup, client side innovation and creative agencies all over the world. He is a passionate entrepreneur, most recently with Zuper superannuation being acquired in 2019 ,and has worked on some of the world’s most valuable brands across the UK, US and Australia.
He will be focused on continuing to build out the company’s strategy offering, leading a diverse team across commercial design, behavioural change, strategic design, customer experience and data sciences. Holloway will be working with the network’s client base across Asia Pacific, with a primary focus on R/GA Australia’s clients.
Says Holloway: “Returning to R/GA was such an easy choice for two reasons: R/GA always felt like home to me. The smartest people; working with the smartest clients to really challenge convention and drive growth. Then, as we deal with the new world order, looking at what brands and businesses are being challenged to do in this new economy, there has never been a better time for the R/GA mindset to help businesses thrive.”

Congratulations, Jon. Go get ’em.
Imagine being so desperate as an agency that you invite someone back who literally said, as they left you after 15 months, that you: “could have taken on the gap in digital disruption and new opportunities, but instead they played at it, they took ad thinking to business problems and fucked it all up.” https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/end-nigh-advertising-we-know-finally-jon-holloway/
It’s pretty hilarious to see someone who has the spent the last few months yelling that ‘advertising doesn’t work and ad agencies are dead’ move back to an ad agency. I give it a year. Absolute max.
R/ga are truly clueless in this market.
Another big name agency that failed to crack this market (because it’s a shitshow) looking truly clueless.
You couldn’t make this stuff up. Truly hilarious.
If he can backpedal and eat his own words so effortlessly, then he’s made for ‘new-order’ advertising
What, talked shit on advertising. Leaves it to revolutionise an industry, then comes straight back to the place he badmouthed…
Well this is the biggest serving of humble pie I’ve seen anyone choke down in quite a while.
He was great last time. He really made it a lot better place to work. So glad he’s back to do it all over again. Hopefully with a few more buzz words.
R/GA are quietly building a line up of absolute game changers. Just look who they have recently brought on board; Ben Miles. Kieran Antill and now Jon Holloway (who would be the first to admit he probably wasn’t the right fit at the right time when he was last at R/GA). I think we’ll see big things in the next year or so. They already are crushing it in the broader APAC so I guess we’ll see.
Are you sure you ain’t JoHo?
R/GA is quietly, but surely, building a team of absolute game changers. Just look at who they have put on recently; Ben Miles, Kieran Antill and now Jon Holloway (who I think would be the first to admit he wasn’t in the right role the first time round). I think we’re about to see big things from R/GA in the next year or so. They are already crushing it in APAC so I guess will see…
R/GA is quietly, but surely, creating a line up of absolute game changers. Look who they recently have brought on board: Ben Miles. Kieran Antill and, most recently, Jon Holloway (who I believe would be the first to put his hand up to say that he probably wasn’t the right fit when he was last at R/GA). I think we’ll see really big things in the next year or so. They are crushing it already in the broader APAC so I guess we’ll see won’t we?
R/GA is secretly creating a line up of incredible paradigm shifters. Look who they recently have brought on board: Ben Miles. Kieran ‘Special K’ Antill and, most importantly, Mr Jon Holloway (who should be the first to put his hands up in the air to say that he probably wasn’t the right fit when he was at R/GA last time). Just wait and see. Really big things are on the horizon in the next year or so. They are crushing it already in the far reaches of APAC so I guess we’ll see really really soon.
