Cuttable taps Medibank’s Sam Ayre to spearhead marketing

Cuttable, the newly launched, first-of-its-kind automated advertising agency that combines the science and craft of advertising with precision technology and AI to help deliver a more connected marketing funnel for brands, has announced the appointment of Sam Ayre as its first marketing hire.

Prior to Medibank, Ayre spent over five years at Clemenger BBDO Melbourne in various account management roles and also spent two years at AMV BBDO London as a senior account manager.

Says Ayre: “Having been a client of Cuttable at Medibank, I saw firsthand the incredible impact Cuttable’s unique offering can have on a marketing team. We were looking for a partner to help us with the messy middle as they call it, the consideration and conversion content that we were struggling to do effectively and at the craft needed; it’s where we brought on Cuttable.”

Says Jack White, co-CEO of Cuttable: “Sam and I first met as young account directors at Clemenger BBDO Melbourne before he went to AMV BBDO London. We reconnected when he returned to Melbourne and joined Medibank, leading both the brand and acquisition teams.

“We would both meet regularly to chat, trying to solve the challenge brands have in nailing their mid-funnel and consideration content, but from different perspectives: Sam from the marketing side and me from the agency side. When we started the search for a marketing lead, I couldn’t think of a better person to partner with.”

“Sam’s deep understanding of both the client perspective and the marketing landscape makes him the perfect addition to our team,” said White. “His leadership and vision will be invaluable as we continue to innovate and deliver unparalleled value to our clients.”

On leaving Medibank, Ayre says: “It’s a unique situation because I’ve gone from sitting in the seat to looking in from the outside. I’m still hellbent on helping them get the outcomes they deserve. Medibank is an incredible place to work, filled with people who genuinely care and brilliant marketing brains.”

Says Sam Kroonenburg, co-CEO of Cuttable: “Sam joining is crucial to our success as it ensures we have the voice of our marketers in our business from product build. It’s something we did at our last company and proved to be pivotal in our success.”

Cuttable boasts an impressive agency roster with the likes of, Nando’s, Medibank, Penfolds, Powershop, DiDi and Wesfarmers OneDigital all on board since launch, with more brands to be announced soon.
