David Droga lures fellow Aussie expat Nick Law for Global Lead, Design & Creative Tech role at Accenture Interactive

Accenture Interactive has lured Aussie expat Nick Law, who departed the VP, Marcom Integation role at Apple in December, to global lead, design & creative tech role and Sarah Thompson – former global CEO of Droga5 – as its global lead, communications & content.

In his new role, Law will be responsible for leading Accenture Interactive’s world-class service and experience design capabilities to help clients further modernise their approach and meet their customers’ ever-evolving needs. Law’s decades-long commitment to and obsession with progressive, future-facing design will energise Accenture Interactive’s mission to help its clients drive growth and relevance.

The appointment of Law comes on the heels of Accenture Interactive’s appointment of Aussie expat Neil Heymann as its first global chief creative officer and Jatinder Singh as global lead of data and analytics.

Accenture Interactive has also appointed Sarah Thompson – former global CEO of Droga5 – as its global lead, communications & content.

“Two of the very first calls I made when I accepted my new role in September, were to Nick Law and Sarah Thompson respectively. Nick is someone I have admired for well over a decade. From R/GA to Apple, he is truly one of the most future-facing, design, technology and communications leaders. His work has inspired millions, grown revenue by the billions and set new benchmarks for how design and tech need one another to thrive,” says Aussie expat David Droga, CEO and creative chairman, Accenture Interactive.

“And Sarah, well she has without a doubt been one of my most trusted and influential Droga5 partners, and certainly one of the smartest and most authentic people I have ever met. We are spoiled and excited to have such exceptional leaders join this already incredible leadership team.”

The world’s largest digital agency, Accenture Interactive is setting the standard for creativity and brand building, marketing transformation, design, product and service innovation and sales and commerce transformation, helping clients grow and stay relevant for today and tomorrow.

“When David became the CEO of Accenture Interactive, it was a clear statement of the company’s oversized creative ambitions. I didn’t need much convincing to have a conversation with him; and once I did, to get excited by the company’s astonishing breadth and depth of capabilities,” says Law. “It’ll be a privilege to lead the discipline that I’ve always considered the foundation of the creative and tech industries – design. Creating great products, experiences and outcomes for clients starts with the craft and clarity of brilliant design. Design shapes how we interact with the world – and how we change it for the better. I’m looking forward to helping it drive Accenture Interactive’s ambition.”

Says Thompson: “I’m thrilled to take on a broader role within the leadership team of Accenture Interactive, especially at a time when businesses worldwide need a growth acceleration partner to help them drive their growth and ability to meet the ever-shifting needs of modern customers. I’m honoured to offer my experience in leading Droga5, one of the world’s most respected creative agencies, and apply that to an impressive group of creative firepower found within Accenture Interactive’s creative agency brands.”

Law joined Apple in June 2019, after an 18 month stint as global CCO of Publicis. Before that he had a hugely successful 17 year stint at R/GA New York, joining in 2001. Law worked with clients such as Nike, Beats by Dre, Samsung, HBO, Johnson & Johnson, IBM, and Google. During his tenure, R/GA became one of the most awarded agencies in the world, winning every major creative accolade, including four Cannes Lion Grand Prix awards, a D&AD Black Pencil, and a GRANDY; and Adweek named R/GA Digital Agency of the Decade and Nike+ as Campaign of the Decade.

For over a decade, Law led the development of many of R/GA’s most innovative projects, including Nike+ Running, Nike+ FuelBand, and Beats Music for Beats by Dre. He has also sponsored the creation of cutting-edge R/GA capabilities such as the Prototype Studio and the hugely successful R/GA Accelerator.

Law has been on every major award show jury (including being named Jury President for the Cannes Innovation Lions) and has twice been named in the Creativity 50, a list of the world’s most influential creative people. He is recognized as an industry thought leader and has been published globally.

Beginning his career as a designer in Sydney, Law continued as an advertising art director in London, and transitioned to digital in the late 90s after moving to New York.
