Wunderman Thompson Perth appoints Cameron Jones as lead designer and head of studio

Design and illustration ‘wunderkind’ Cameron Jones has been appointed lead designer and head of studio at Wunderman Thompson Perth, taking over from Mike Spiers, who is returning to the UK.

Jones (left) previously worked as an art director at fellow WPP AUNZ agency Cannings Purple. His six years at the company saw it grow from a small office into one of the country’s leading communications agencies.

Leaving to pursue opportunities in advertising, Jones spent a number of months freelancing, including illustrating a real-time showcase mural at this year’s The State of Social event, before being offered the role at WT.

Says Jones: “With an office already full of creative people who I know and admire, it was a very welcome call to  be asked to come onboard. I look forward to making the role my own and working with people who I’ve respected for many years.”

Says Joe Hawkins (right), creative director, Wunderman Thompson, Perth: “Cam’s an amazing talent, and we’re excited to have him on board. He’s not only a wizard on the tools, a prodigious illustrator, and a great creative thinker, he also happens to be a supremely humble, collaborative and all-round nice guy.”
