WorkSafe Victoria helps injured workers get back to work and back to life in latest campaign via Shannon Behaviour Change
WorkSafe Victoria and Shannon Behaviour Change have launched a new campaign designed to inspire injured workers and their employers to remain connected to support faster, more sustainable returns to work.
The campaign supports WorkSafe’s ambition to improve return to work outcomes across Victoria.
Research identified a shared challenge: injured workers and employers both recognise the importance of returning to work but often look to the other party to take the lead. This uncertainty can slow recovery and make the process feel overwhelming for everyone involved.
The campaign’s central idea is that recovery is more effective when employers, workers and their health teams work together to share this responsibility.
To bring this to life, Shannon Behaviour Change distilled a complex process into three simple connected behaviours, underpinned by a spirit of collaboration between injured worker, employer and treating health teams: Keep Talking, Keep Planning and Keep At It.
Together, this platform frames a successful return to work as the result of consistent communication, thoughtful planning and shared responsibility between all parties.
The campaign features real people sharing their own recovery stories in their own words, structured around the Keep Talking, Keep Planning, Keep At It framework. Executions include perspectives from both injured workers and their employers.
Says Fei Wang, Planning Director, Shannon Behaviour Change: “Our challenge was to help injured workers and their employers understand that a successful return-to-work journey is one underpinned by collaboration between both parties.
“When workers try to overcome their injuries alone at home, recovery slows – and it can contribute to depression, loneliness and a loss of self-worth.”
A key part of the campaign’s development involved researching a wide range of real recovery stories to find talent representing a genuine spread of physical and psychological injuries.
Says Elisa Horan, Client Partner, Shannon Behaviour Change: “It’s no coincidence that real people feature in so many of our most successful Behaviour Change campaigns – there’s no substitute for the realness, credibility and empathy that comes from someone telling their own story.
“We’re thrilled to have worked with WorkSafe on a campaign that helps people return to work and return to life.”
