Virgin Australia has answered Australia’s food cravings and today announced the launch of Virgin Australia Fly Foods, a world-first service that delivers Aussies’ favourite interstate restaurant meals straight into their hands. Alt/Shift has created a new campaign to celebrate the launch.

Virgin Australia Fly Foods will deliver top quality restaurant meals to any metropolitan area across Australia; so, whether you’re a Sydneysider that’s hungry for Melbourne’s hottest hamburgers, a Melburnian craving Sydney’s special satay chicken or a Brisbanite that’s after Adelaide’s best appetisers – you can have it by dinnertime with the click of a button.

Virgin Australia Fly Foods will leverage Virgin Australia’s existing domestic flight routes to facilitate interstate deliveries. The airline has also undertaken upgrades across its fleet of Boeing 737 aircraft to build in additional food-storage compartments and temperature-controlled zones for safe food passage.

Says a spokesperson from Virgin Australia: “Virgin Australia customers are increasingly telling us that they travel with their tummies, and choose destinations based on the culinary offerings within that city.

“Unfortunately, catching a flight to satisfy food cravings isn’t always realistic, which is why we’ve launched Virgin Australia Fly Foods. We’re excited to offer foodies the opportunity to enjoy their favourite dish wherever they are, delivered door to door thanks to the Fly Foods app.”

With a selection of top Australian restaurants set to come on-board including Melbourne’s iconic Mexican diner Mamasita, Virgin Australia Fly Foods will revolutionise Aussies’ take-away experiences by opening up a whole new world of interstate dining options they can enjoy in the comfort of their own home.

Says the spokesperson: “Here at Virgin, we’re proud to push the boundaries of what’s possible to keep consumers happy, and this latest launch is no different. We’ve seen the popularity of food delivery apps grow over recent years and have worked hard to make this seemingly impossible idea a reality.”

Customers ordering via the Virgin Australia Fly Foods app will earn Velocity Frequent Flyer Points for every dollar spent, satisfying both their appetite and their bank balance as they make savings towards future flights.
