Vale Jim Everard
The Australian advertising industry is the loser this week with the sudden and sad death of Jim Everard, following a heart attack at work last Friday.
Born in England, Everard was brought up on a farm in Kenya when not attending boarding school in England.
On his arrival in Australia in the 1970’s his Australian advertising career began in Melbourne at O&M, followed by stints at Clemenger, JWT, Saatchi and McCann Erickson where he and Andrew Wilson were eventually to become creative directors.
In 1990 Everard and Wilson left McCann to start their own agency Wilson Everard.
In his early years Everard was fortunate to be an enthusiastic participant in those heady days of the 70’s & 80’s when advertising ruled, the idea was god, the creative department believed it was sovereign & Friday lunch was an institution… a perfect storm for talented young Everard and his many friends.
As those heady days slipped quickly into history, Everard easily adapted to become the consummate businessman, the success of Wilson Everard being testament to this.
Everard leaves behind a multitude of saddened friends and a beautiful family.
Heartfelt condolences to Sue & his daughters, Al and Tori.

Jim was one of the good ones. A gent, a talent and a laugh. He will be missed by all who knew him. My sincere condolences to his family and all his friends and colleagues.
So sorry to hear of Jim’s sudden passing.
Our hearts and thoughts are with Sue, Al, Tori and Jim’s family and friends.
From the entire McCann community.
A friend who will be greatly missed. RIP
It is a sad day indeed.
I had the pleasure of working with Jim on three separate occasions. Firstly in the 70s at O&M, then again in the 80s at DFS and finally in the 90s at his own agency.
It was always a pleasure.
My wishes go out to Sue, Al and Tori.
RIP.
I am devastated to hear of the passing of Jim !
Many years ago I had the pleasure of ‘voicing’ for him and his company.
We lost contact…..(actors are nothing if not FICKLE) but I never forgot him and that wonderful smile.
Vale Jim
My wishes and condolences to Sue and Al and Tori
