UnLtd announces new social impact projects; adds Karen Halligan + Venessa Hunt to Board

Off the back of its most successful year since launching in 2007, UnLtd has confirmed the FY20 strategic plan for the industry’s social purpose organisation along with announcing the appointment of two new directors.

Social commerce, measurement of impact and technology enablement will be the key new projects in FY20 that will underpin the organisation’s revenue growth, effectiveness and increased engagement with all who work across media and advertising.

Says Venessa Hunt, digital strategy and investment officer at GroupM and Karen Halligan, director – media value advisory at KPMG have been appointed to join Adam Furness, Aimee Buchanan, David Park, Danny Bass, Kerry Field, Kerry McCabe and Rebecca Darley on the UnLtd board.

Says Chris Freel, CEO, UnLtd: “UnLtd has experienced unprecedented growth in the last two years and we’re well on our way to reaching our goal of $100 million in social impact by 2021.

“To help us achieve our goal, we’ve commenced these exciting new projects. Social commerce, as evidenced by the success of ‘Pitch for Purpose’ gives creative and passionate people in the industry the opportunity to create and launch B2B and B2C products leveraging the capabilities of our industry. Deeper measurement of our impact, and the impact of our charity partners, will aid our effectiveness in helping young people in need while showing all of our supporters exactly what was achieved through their contributions. Leveraging technology platforms will give more people in the industry the opportunity to get involved with projects though crowd sourcing, social media and virtual team platforms.”

Says Kerry McCabe, founder and chair, UnLtd: “Our team is delighted to welcome Karen and Venessa into more formal roles. Not only are they both well respected professionals and absolute experts in their fields, they have demonstrated their passion for UnLtd over many years. From climbing Kilimanjaro to spending nights in prison and mentoring young people in our charities’ programs, both Karen and Ness will bring their energy and expertise to help our board and team to execute on our forward plans in the very UnLtd way of rolling their sleeves up and getting it done.”

Says Hunt: “As someone who understands some of the experiences those faced by the young people UnLtd helps, I feel strongly about using our collective power as an industry to help break the cycle of youth disadvantage. I’m excited to be joining the UnLtd board at such an exciting time and being able to use my skills and connections to help grow the impact of this amazing organisation.”
