Tigerair Australia appoints Hardhat as new creative agency following a competitive pitch
Melbourne creative agency Hardhat has been awarded Tigerair Australia’s brand strategy and creative services account, following a competitive pitch process.
Tigerair Australia, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Virgin Australia Group, operates a low-cost carrier airline service across 21 domestic routes and out of 12 destinations around Australia, employing more than 1,100 people. Since its launch in 2007, the airline has flown well over 30 million passengers.
The win will see Hardhat lead the charge on all of Tigerair’s integrated marketing efforts, including brand, creative and customer communications.
Says Hope Antzoulatos, Tigerair Australia: “Tigerair Australia is extremely excited to be working with the brilliant creative talent at Hardhat who have proven success in delivering truly customer-centric and data-driven creative.
“As a disruptor in the airline industry, innovation based on insights is at the core of our DNA, and as an extension of our team Hardhat understands our passion for affordable travel and connecting people with genuine experiences.”
Says Dan Monheit, co-founder, Hardhat: ”We couldn’t be more thrilled. As an agency, we’re committed to building brands on behaviour. Tigerair, with its ‘challenger brand’ mentality, sharp leadership and passionate team, gives us an incredible opportunity to do just that.”

Tiger is not the uber of the skies.
It is the last resort of flyers.
mccann is literally down to one client by now
the rest of us flew
atop Toby’s hairy wings
safe flight, good tiger
This is what it sounds like… when chickens cry.
Farewell, sweet Toby.
Arrive at check-in one hour
before departure.
do not bring a pet
animals are forbidden
says the stripey cat
Hats off to the agency.
McCann did some great work for Tiger (infrequent flyers) – either there was a relationship problem or it just wasn’t effective enough to overcome the stigma that they are shitter than Jetstar.
