Sheldrick Wildlife Trust: Mammoth
whiteGREY
We have always been in a race to keep the African elephant alive. For decades, from poachers. Now, climate change and population growth add new threats to the survival of this species. This is the challenge facing the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust – a pioneering conservation organisation, dedicated to the protection of wildlife and the preservation of habitats across East Africa. But as the problem gets bigger, the SWT’s resources remain the same. And the pace to deploy patrols over vast geography is slower than the evolving threats. Mammoth is the first data intelligence tool designed to shield the African elephant from extinction.

It applies tech where it’s never been applied and turns every patrol into a real-time data capture. Mapping and reporting incidents, allowing field forces to visually spot trends and enabling operations to build a picture of evolving threats to mobilise resources in the right way. The data the app will harness and the intelligence it will give rangers, will be a tool to prevent future conflicts.

Missing Persons Advocacy Network (MPAN): Hope Narratives
whiteGREY
‘Ambiguous loss’ is the unique form of grief experienced by the loved ones of missing persons, considered by many psychologists to be the most traumatic type of loss. The hardest part for many is how alone and voiceless they feel, due to the lack of familiar language for what they are going through. The Hope Narratives is a system of modular, therapeutic language designed to help people navigate the experience of ambiguous loss using the lived experiences of others. Created for the Missing Persons Australia Network (MPAN) in collaboration with global ambiguous loss expert, Dr Sarah Wayland and the loved ones of missing persons across eight countries, The Hope Narratives are designed to help people find a way through their unresolved grief, and know that they are not alone, however complicated their feelings.
