Team Swinburne first Aussie student team to make finals of European Ad Venture competition

Team Swinburne (Renee Chung, Daniel Vesel, Isabelle Oehler and Stephanie Bobik) have become the first Australian student team to reach the finals of the pan-European advertising competition known as Ad Venture.

Co-ordinated by the European Advertising Communications Association (EACA), the Ad Venture challenge has been running for 12 years, with 709 teams having competed from 24 countries.

In the 2018/2019 iteration of the competition over 60 University teams from across Europe and Internationally fought for the opportunity to pitch their advertising solution to a panel made up of the client, industry and academic professionals.

Team Swinburne were mentored over the 6 month journey to the finals by Swinburne advertising academic David Reid, with further industry feedback given by Alex Wood (BWM Dentsu), Benjamin Mann & Nic Molyneux (whiteGREY), as well as Rachael Kertes (UM Australia).

A fiercely competitive challenge, Swinburne University faced off in the finals in Paris on Friday last week against teams from Bournemouth University (UK), and Sup de Pub (France.)

Masters level students from Sup de Pub received the top accolade, but Australia can be very proud of the rather clever group of undergraduate students from Swinburne University of Technology – finalists – they were at the end of the day – pitch perfect.
