Suncorp’s new consolidated strategy forces DDB Melbourne to resign APIA due to Westpac conflict
DDB Melbourne has ended its relationship with Suncorp after an internal shake-up sees a conflict with DDB client Westpac.
Suncorp’s consolidation of brands AAMI, Bingle, GIO and APIA under the one Suncorp umbrella has impacted APIA’s long-term relationship with DDB Melbourne.
Suncorp has now consolidated its creative account with Ogilvy Melbourne and Publicis Brisbane.
Says DDB national CEO Andrew Little: “DDB Melbourne has enjoyed many years of partnership with firstly Promina and more recently Suncorp. With Suncorp’s new consolidated strategy our banking relationship with Westpac is now a conflict. We wish Suncorp all the best and thank them for many years of partnership.”

Why wouldn’t DDB just create another agency to service them in the way Publicis and Clems do?
anyone at DDB heard of a conflict brand / conflict shop?
sounds like a convenient excuse to give for losing the business
They are leaving all agencies and moving to Sydney
I heard that Suncorp is leaving Publicis Brisbane and moving to Saatchis in Sydney. So I agree that everything seems to be moving to Sydney.
Haven’t they lost a chunk of Westpac just recently too?
Time to bring back the Promina talking baby to explain things.
That would be amazing if Saatchi Sydney could have NRMA and Suncorp… Maybe the nes got a little twisted on the way over the border
The Suncorp business wasn’t at Publicis Brisbane for very long. Just over a year? Something went badly wrong.
