Spikes Asia: Metro Trains ‘Dumb Ways to Die’ via McCann, Melbourne takes out record seven Grand Prix: Branded Content, Integrated, Promo & Activation, Digital, Radio, Film and Film Craft
McCann Melbourne’s incredible ‘Dumb Ways to Die’ campaign for Metro Trains continued its world-record award run at the Spikes Festival of Creativity tonight, taking out a record seven Grand Prix.
The campaign scored Grand Prix in Branded Content, Integrated, Promo & Activation, Digital, Radio, Film and Film Craft.
Branded Content Only four Gold Spikes were awarded in Branded Content, with Metro Trains ‘Dumb Ways to Die’ winning one of them. New Zealand scored two, one for Amnesty International ‘Trial by Timeline’ via Colenso BBDO Auckland, the other for Mini/SPCA ‘Driving Dogs via DraftFCB Auckland. JWT Bangkok won Gold for Oriental Princess ‘Reflection’.

Digital Only three Gold Spikes were awarded in Digital, including Metro Trains ‘Dumb Ways to Die’. Save Our Sons and the Duchenne Foundation’s ‘The Most Powerful Arm ever invented’ via Havas Worlwide Sydney and Finch Sydney won Gold, as did Singtel Project Silverline ‘Old phones give new life’ via Ogilvy Singapore.

Radio Only five Gold Spikes were awarded in Radio, with Australia and NZ sharing the spoils. Metro Trains ‘Dumb Ways to Die’ won two of them, while DDB Sydney won Gold for Volkswagen ‘William Tell’, as did Clemenger BBDO Wellington for NZTA ‘Radio Legends’ and DraftFCB Auckland for Prime Television ‘Call Girl’.

Film Only three Gold Spikes were awarded in Film: Clemenger BBDO Melbourne won for Carlton Draught ‘Beer Chase’, as did Dentsu Creative X, Tokyo for Baika Gofuku Gan ‘Batting Practice Centre 3’ and Chrome Pictures, Mumbai for Lifebouy ‘Help a child read 5’ via Lowe & Partners, London.

Film Craft Only seven Gold Spikes were awarded in Film Craft with Metro Trains ‘Dumb Ways to Die’ via McCann Melbourne winning two of them. The Sweet Shop, Melbourne won Gold for Carlton Draught ‘Beer Chase’ via Clemenger BBDO Melbourne, as did Revolver Sydney for Schweppes ‘Tumble’ via GPY&R Melbourne. Leo Burnett Hong Kong won Gold for the 7-Eleven ‘Redemption’ campaign; ADK Japan, Tokyo won for Sunshine Sakae ‘Chewing Gum Artist’ and JWT India Bangalore won for Nike Cricket ‘Parallel Journeys’.
