Special Australia + Special US win Silver Lion in Cannes Creative Effectiveness Lions
Special Australia + Special US has won a Silver Lion in the Cannes Creative Effectiveness Lions for Uber Eats’ “Football Is for Food”, one of four Silver Lions awarded in the category this year.
The campaign was created by Special Australia + Special US, in collaboration with O Positive, Eleven Sound, Exile Edit, Pariah Creative, Royal Muster, Trafik, PHD New York, Mayflower Entertainment and Trevor TV.
The campaign launched in September 2024, with Matthew McConaughey fronting a season-long, tongue-in-cheek conspiracy theory that football was secretly invented to sell food, playing on terms like “scrambles” and “turnovers”, before expanding into a multi-season platform with Bradley Cooper and a Super Bowl appearance.
The Grand Prix in Creative Effectiveness was awarded to Publicis Conseil, Paris for AXA France’s “Three Words”.
