Sapporo invites Aussies and New Zealanders to ‘Prepare for Fugu’ in new work via Sunday Gravy

Sapporo is continuing its So Pour a Sapporo platform with ’Prepare for Fugu’, a new campaign created by Sunday Gravy that gives Australians and New Zealanders the chance to experience one of Japan’s most legendary culinary traditions.

Consumers who purchase Sapporo can go into the draw to win a fugu dining experience in Japan, where the infamous delicacy is prepared only by highly trained licensed chefs.

To launch the campaign, Sapporo has released a cinematic short film inspired by Japanese psychological thrillers. The film blurs the line between reality and imagination as the fear of poison begins to consume every thought, creating an escalating sense of tension and unease.

The latest chapter of So Pour a Sapporo celebrates the ritual of slowing down, with one of Japan’s most unique experiences, best shared over a beer.

Says Phoebe Joiner and Mary Graham, Senior Creatives at Sunday Gravy: “The craft that goes into preparing fugu is quite literally life or death. The ritual of eating it forces you to be present. We wanted to capture that feeling, then give Australians and New Zealanders the chance to experience it for themselves.”

Says Amy Kearney, Marketing Manager for Sapporo Australia/ NZ: ”So Pour a Sapporo celebrates the moments and stories that bring people together over a beer. Prepare for Fugu is another invitation to experience a side of Japan that stays with you long after the glass is empty.”

The integrated campaign launches nationally across film, cinema, OOH, PR, on pack, on premise, digital, social and retail.
