Samsung urges Aussies to get behind Wallabies in #WeRiseTogether campaign via iris Sydney
As part of its sponsorship of the Wallabies, Samsung Electronics Australia in partnership with Israel Folau has launched #WeRiseTogether – a campaign via iris Sydney which inspires Australians to wake up early and get behind the Wallabies for the biggest tournament in Rugby.
Says Philip Newtown, corporate vice president and chief marketing officer, Samsung Electronics Australia: “We’ve created #WeRiseTogether to encourage Aussie rugby fans to come together, no matter the time of day, to get behind the Wallabies and to share in the excitement of the biggest sporting event of the year.”
To kick-start the campaign, Samsung has developed an emotive short film featuring Samsung ambassador and Wallabies fullback Israel Folau, titled, ‘We Rise Together’. The short film honours the passion and dedication of Australian Rugby fans from all walks of life, including Izzy himself, as they prepare to stand united behind the Wallabies.
Says Folau: “Nothing compares to the passion of Aussie sports fans. It’s engrained the culture and as players it inspires us knowing so many people are waking up at all hours to get together to cheer us on. I’m really excited about Samsung’s #WeRiseTogether campaign and hope everyone gets around it ….we’re ready, but need your support. Let’s rise together and take on the world.”
To help Aussies spring out of bed at any hour, the #WeRiseTogether Samsung activation will include:
- Retweet a reminder – By retweeting @SamsungAU Wallabies match announcements fans will receive an auto response reminder 30 minutes before kickoff.
- Izzy Wake Up Call – Need a little help rising up? A wake up alarm from Izzy Folau is available to download directly to your compatible device.
- Rise up and win: By rising up to support the Wallabies, fans can go into the running to win some great Samsung prizes. Show your support of the Wallabies on Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag #WeRiseTogether. The most creative and unique post will win a Samsung Series 8, 55 inch SUHD TV and a runner up will win a Galaxy S6 smartphone and Level On Wireless Pro Headphones every week until Sunday 1st November*.
- Fan Celebration at the Sydney Opera House – Rise up and show your support at Australia’s most iconic location on Sunday 4th October. Samsung will be hosting an exclusive event for Wallabies supporters starting from 5am.

Now that’s just embarrassing.
An unsurprising idea and I still cried.
I fear if I wake up to watch tonight’s game and the short emotive film comes on, I just may fall back to sleep.
Nice one iris Sydney – beautifully written and some great shots in there. Well done guys!
We’ve come to expect more from Samsung – they’ve been doing some good work recently but this is just boring, generic and unispiring.
You have one of the best tech companies paired with the biggest sportng event and arguably the best player at your disposal. Sorry but what a missed opportunity.
It’s really no better or worse than all the other pointlessly noble manifesto ads the industry’s been churning out in the last few years. Just because these days it’s easy to take pretty pictures, doesn’t mean you don’t need a good idea. It’s ads like this that make me worry about the future relevancy of our industry – and I’ve made a few of them myself.
That kookaburra line made me laugh. (Wow – maybe there is something deeper going on here)
Did an Englishman write this?
Yawnsville.
I wouldn’t have PRed this one.
It’s predictable and production values are ordinary. Maybe that try hard with the curly hair and thick black glasses from Edelman PR, did actually sell this in to the client, this is the sort of crap Edelman thinks is award winning. They are claiming in Mumbrella this is their work?
IKON maybe let Edelman take this one through the goals
