RMIT Advertising wants to play Job or No Job – Pitch Night set for October 8 at RMIT’s Storey Hall
Following the smashing success of last year, Pitch Night is back for 2013. This year the networking night is Japanese Game show themed – “Let’s play job or no job!”
The event will take place on October 8 at RMIT’s Storey Hall in Melbourne. It’s a chance for agencies to gain access to the cream of talent from RMIT’s renowned advertising course, and a chance for students to practice saying “moshi moshi” on a speed-date with industry luminaries.
Agencies can purchase tickets for $140, which includes up to 4 people, food & drink, and a copy of the exclusive yearbook – detailing all the graduating students, and their areas of expertise.
The night has been organised by several third year students with the goal of presenting their folios to top agencies around Australia.
The non-for-profit event has already gained interest from Melbourne agencies CHE, GPY&R and Grey, who’ve come aboard as official sponsors.
Tickets are limited and selling fast so hurry to get your tickets now. For further information regarding sponsorship or tickets, email James Gerrard.

Err… slight flaw here. You’re students – people aren’t going to pay to come and see you. You should have got your sponsors to cover the cost of food and drink – remember agencies coming to see your work is them doing you a favour.
$140 to see some OK ads and bump into some old friends. Sounds like the MADC Awards are back.
So… They’re asking the industry to pay for the privilege of giving them jobs? Does RMIT not realise that even free events are a stretch for extremely busy creatives to find the time for, much less paying to see mostly average work and a few stars who will get a job regardless? For the kids’ sake, reconsider this strategy and don’t blow an opportunity for them to get exposure.
I also agree. Poor form RMIT.
Please set this straight RMIT.
You’re not seriously asking CDs to pay to see student books?
Or are you?
Sort this out RMIT. It’ll be really sad if nobody turns up.
RMIT or these students are seriously overrating themselves! Good idea but horribly executed. Paying??? Forget it.
Let’s try not be cynical.
This is a terrific initiative from RMIT students and is supported by most of the top Melbourne agencies already. (And some in Sydney).
$140 covers 4 x agency representatives to come and meet and greet 70 of the top advertising graduates in strategy, account service, media and creative.
That’s $35 a ticket. Non profit. The ticket price covers food, drink, printing etc.
Pull your heads in, please.
You’ll be asking one of these kids for a job in a year or two.
This is a student run project. How do you expect students to cover the cost of a large scale event? With money from their own pockets?
$140 to see Melbourne’s brightest young students (that would work on a junior level wage) isn’t a bad deal for the agencies..or maybe they just are decent humans who want to make things possible for the young creatives. These students have confirmed over 30 agencies already.
Keep in mind, you’re attacking students with your anonymous comments.
I’m personally really looking forward to the night. Kudos on the art direction!
this is amazing! go RMIT!
I went to rmit and I wish the students had of shown this kind of initiative when I was there. Some amazing agencies already signed up. Very impressive
It’s no wonder there is a dearth of talent in the Southern hemisphere with attitudes like some of you. Seriously you are moaning about $140 for 4 people to attend a student run event, where you get the opporunity to see the upcoming talent, the potential future CD’s/strategists/planners/buyers etc? if you were recruiting for a grad through a recruitment agency you would be looking at at paying at least 15-20% of their annual income in fees if you chose to take them on. Those moaners…you are so short sighted and clearly think you are a cut above the rest, sad very sad.
