Revolver x Somesuch + The Monkeys win Ciclope APAC 2024 Grand Prix for SOH ‘Play It Safe’; Revolver named Production Company of the Year; The Monkeys named Agency of the Year

Revolver x Somesuch and The Monkeys have scored the Grand Prix at CICLOPE APAC 2024 Festival for Sydney Opera House ‘Play It Safe’. In addition to the Grand Prix, Revolver has been crowned Production Company of the Year; The Monkeys has been crowned Agency of the Year and Kim Gehrig has been named Director of the Year.

 

Expert jurors from Asia Pacific and the world awarded the best-crafted creative work of the year to set the benchmark in categories including direction, cinematography, production design, editing, VFX, animation and more.

The jury awarded one Grand Prix, alongside thirteen other awards.

The Grand Prix was awarded to ‘Play it Safe’ for Sydney Opera House, directed by Kim Gehrig, produced by Revolver x Somesuch, and created by The Monkeys, part of Accenture Song, music by Turning Studios, and editing by ARC EDIT and Trim Editing. Play it Safe won in Music and in Direction.

Revolver was also awarded for Hornbach ‘1 Square Metre’, directed by Steve Rogers, winning in the Direction and Production Design category.

electriclime° was also recognised, scoring a win for Cinematography for Betr ‘Sport is Everything‘ film. The spot was directed by Leigh Powis alongside director of photography Charlie Owens. Filmed over five days, the electriclime° Australia team, led by executive producer Shahn Devendran, partnered with Deloitte Digital, with Prodco’s Ian Pons Jewell as director consultant.

electriclime° Australia head Shahn Devendran, founders Pabz Alexander and Michael Ahmadzadeh, and marketing and communications manager Oliver Harbord were at the awards to receive the award.

It has been a highly successful awards period for the Betr film, having clinched several nominations and wins throughout the year. It recently clinched the top prize at the 1.4 Awards for in the ‘High Flying – Sport’ category, while also winning Gold at the CICLOPE International Festival in Berlin last year. The project was also a finalist at the Berlin Commercial Festival, with the spot once again being recognised for its creative excellence.

Says Devendran: “We’re absolutely honoured to have received this recognition from CICLOPE Asia. This poetic ode to sport fans was a dream collaboration with an incredibly talented team from around the world. And the tribute within the film to the ever-inspiring Grace Rached who passed shortly after the film was released, makes the recognition all the more special.”

The festival brought Asia Pacific’s craft talent together in Tokyo for talks, networking and to celebrate the best craft in the region. Top global talent such as Makoto Nagahisa, Director, Dentsu; Elliott Power, Director & Musician, Love Song; and Thay Littichai, Director, Unboxnow shared their craft insights and processes live on stage.
