Repco is bringin’ the Bathurst with the help of Brocky’s glove in new campaign via Thinkerbell
Sit down, get your backside trackside and let us tell you a story about a special bit of racing memorabilia. Legend has it that after his hat-trick winning run in ‘84 Brocky dropped his racing glove somewhere upon the track at Mt Panorama, only to be found by a wide-eyed and impressionable young race fan. And every year, at this magical time of year, anything it touches becomes more Bathurst.
Celebrating 60 years of the Bathurst 1000, as well as the successful introduction of the new Gen 3 racers, Repco and Thinkerbell knew they needed to Bring the Bathurst bigger and better than ever before. So it was a stroke of luck when we found the glove.
Says Kym Sutherland, GM marketing – Repco: “Bathurst is the big one; everyone’s favourite. And after 60 years of the Great Race, we figured we should really just turn it up and have some fun with its magic, including a few nods to some of our favourite moments and legends.”
Says Ben Couzens, executive creative tinker, Thinkerbell: “In Repco’s third year of Bringin’ the Bathurst, we knew we needed to keep raising the octane. When we found this bloke bragging in a pub we simply decided to follow him around with a camera. Happy to report that Angry Anderson was not harmed in the making of this work.”
For lovers of overdone snags and the smell of burning rubber, Bringin’ the Bathurst is running up to and throughout the race in October. It can currently be found doing burnouts in the car park as a long-form film, multiple cuts for TV + online, print, social, radio, POS, catalogue and digital, with a couple of high octane surprises along the way.

But a massive fan of this
Wasn’t this already done for Big W at christmas with ‘Santa Hands’?
Skittles did this years ago

Big W had a similar idea for Christmas? This will confuse people. They wont know if they should go to Repco for a low carb beef machine, or to Woolies for some slippers. Crazy stuff. Im joking of course, this is excellent – pure fun.
This is very Cuz – not a pretty jazz chord in sight.
Just full-on bogan-ville from the start – all the way down Conrad Strait – to the finish.
And I like it!
Haha not sure how people would confuse Big W for Repco but okay.
a hand or touch of originality.
Yep – references (and a link) to an ad with a similar idea. Because we all know if an ad is not original it won’t achieve its objectives.
I particularly love @what!!’s comment…can’t even be bothered to read the whole comment they’re replying to. What’s that old saying…best to have people think you a fool than type a comment on CB and remove all doubt
I’m not happy.
Boag’s Pure Waters wants its ad back.
So brave, so virtuous. Please, tell us more about what it’s like to be a paragon of integrity. There’s always some self-righteous prick like you on here isn’t there.
Boats Pure Waters recreated by an inferior agency with less talent.
You’re angry. And it’s funny.
You’re the poster child for mediocrity if you’re defending this. And it’s sad.
This gives me the Thirst. The Bathirst!
If you’re going to rip off an other idea, don’t make it one of the most globally awarded campaigns from these shores.
This is funny… and consumers aren’t that stupid to confuse with Big W 😂
Any ad with Angry is a good ad.
Nice work. TFFT.
So did the Big W ad copy the Boags ad too. Im confused.
All I know is this ad came a distant third.
Bogan Pure Waters
Just seen this commercial on tv. Yes totally. Boags pure water but more campy technique.
Dickheads hate it – rev heads love it
@Dickheads,
Being a bogan who loves Bathurst, doesn’t mean we like crap ads that insult our intelligence.
Most bogan’s would much prefer the Boag’s ad for sure so i guess that makes us dickheads.
Give Bogan’s a bit of credit and stop defending.
Im with @Dickheads
Best ad ever, I need to win this glove . What a great idea
