PHC join Good Oil for representation in AUS and NZ; release new work for Amyl and The Sniffers

Raw, visceral and honest, Good Oil’s latest roster addition PHC truly encapsulates what it means to be authentic.

PHC is the creative collaboration between director / cinematographer John Angus Stewart and producer Max Coles, where authentic and unique characters lie at the heart of their unapologetic brand of storytelling.

Their commercial work debut came in 2023 for iconic Australian brand Crumpler, with PHC acting as agency, production company, writer and director. The launch took them to Tokyo to unearth rarely seen subcultures. The huge success of the campaign led to a follow up in 2024 in Melbourne.

Says Stewart on the latest Crumpler campaign: “Coming at advertising from the outside, we can see differences with a naiveté that’s useful when developing ideas for brands. There is a sameness that lingers around advertising, especially surrounding casting and production. To us the ultimate way of bringing people closer to a brand is casting real people doing real stuff.”

PHC have also created music videos for artists like DJ Shadow, Amyl and the Sniffers and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. Their promo for Amyl, ‘Hertz’, was nominated for a ‘Best Video’ ARIA Award in 2022.

Their latest music video for Amyl and the Sniffers released last week to high acclaim.

As well as a directing unit, PHC is a techno focused record label selling thousands of vinyl records over three releases so far.

Stewart and Coles are currently in development on two narrative feature films.
