Pause Awards announces the most innovative and impactful companies in Australia

Pause Awards is awarding impactful businesses from Australia, and is extremely excited to reveal new future builders from the 4th annual event in Melbourne.

The business awards season is back in full swing and last night was a testament to the excitement of celebrating the most innovative and impactful companies across Australia.

The Pause Awards took place at Bobby McGees in Melbourne, where 63 winners came together to raise a toast to their successes. The Miami themed venue was packed with high energy levels, exceptional hosts and entertainment, great food and an electric atmosphere.

Ten new categories were introduced this year, including the Defiant Ones, the Inception Award, and You have Ethics and the 2021 edition saw double the amount of entries from last year.

It was also the very first time that world’s first NFT minted trophies were handed out to the ‘Grand Prix’ winners, a new merit-based award to celebrate the best in biz, including brick and mortar businesses in addition to tech companies and startups.

Out of 63 winners in total, there were 6 double title winners, 2 triple titles went to Ovira and Heaps Normal while Mr Yum banked four awards — so needless to say, it was a room full of elated people. Company winners included the likes of Linktree, Law on Earth, Nuheara, Safely, Slyp, Removify and Music Health while some individual winners included Nick Hudson (The Push for Better Foundation), Michelle Akhidenor (The Peers Project) and Emma McAllister (Education Perfect) among several others.

The top 5 industries that attracted most wins were computer tech (software), financial services, food & beverage, consumer goods, and education — with the average funding for a company entered sitting at a staggering $17 million, and an average age of Founder being 37.

While Lee Tonitto, Chair of Pause Awards, said that the Pause Awards 2021 submissions were insightful, ingenious and courageous efforts and some simply extraordinary, George Hedon, Founder and CEO of Pause Awards mentioned that the range of submissions was nothing short of amazing and that he’s excited about new designer trophies being minted as NFTs each year from now on as an option for those who care about the digital authenticity.

This year, Prof. Martin Green, inventor of solar, received the Hall of Fame after last year’s illustrious recipient, John O’Sullivan, who led the system design for the world’s first WiFi chipset.

The judging board conferred the Best of the Best Grand Prix award to Ovira, a Sydney based HealthTech company founded by Alice Williams, and Mr. Yum was a 4-time winner across the categories of Hammer, Work Sweet Work, Defiant Ones, and the Out of the Garage awards.

As celebrations went on till the wee hours last night, the Pause Awards are set to return in 2022 on the 8th of June via the new domain www.pauseawards.com, with the VicGov having partnered with them until 2023 to help built Pause Awards into a front-and-centre national tech and innovation program.
