Paper Stone Scissors appointed creative agency for Dotti and Portmans

Creative agency Paper Stone Scissors (PSS) has been appointed agency of record for Myer Group’s Dotti and Portmans, following a competitive pitch process involving several agencies.

The appointment will see PSS lead full-service creative and production across both brands, including seasonal campaign strategy, creative concepts, content, social and production.

The win expands PSS’ relationship with Portmans and adds Dotti to the agency’s remit, strengthening its position across Myer Group’s Apparel Brands portfolio and reinforcing the agency’s long-standing expertise in fashion retail.

PSS will be responsible for developing work that balances brand world-building with retail effectiveness, helping both Dotti and Portmans create distinctive seasonal campaigns in an increasingly fast-moving and saturated fashion market.

Nicole Byrnes, General Manager Marketing Apparel Brands, said Paper Stone Scissors demonstrated a strong understanding of both brands and the role creativity plays in building desire and resulting in increased sales: “What stood out in Paper Stone Scissors’ response was their ability to understand those nuances, while bringing a clear creative and strategic point of view. They showed strong fashion credentials, a sharp understanding of our consumers, and the ability to translate ideas into work that is beautiful and commercially focused”, said Byrnes

PSS founder Atia Cader said the appointment reflects the agency’s enduring strength in fashion, retail and lifestyle brands: “Fashion retail has been part of Paper Stone Scissors’ DNA for more than 30 years.

“We’ve been around long enough to know that passion without perspective is just noise. Our focus has always been on creating work that is worth the investment.

“Dotti and Portmans are iconic Australian fashion brands with real heritage and real opportunity ahead. This appointment is a significant moment for our agency because it reinforces the space we know best: ambitious brands that value both art and commerce.

“We’re proud to partner with the Myer Apparel Brands team and excited to bring our thinking, our craft and our very reliable pair of hands to the work ahead.”

Dylan McDonough, Head of Creative at Paper Stone Scissors, led the creative pitch across both accounts.

Says McDonough: “Fashion retail is one of the most competitive and content-saturated categories in the market.

“The challenge is not simply to make more work, more often. It is to create work with a point of view – work that understands the customer mindset, builds desire quickly and earns attention in a world where they are already seeing everything, everywhere, all at once.”

The agency has already commenced work across both brands, with upcoming seasonal campaigns to roll out across digital, social, retail and campaign channels.

The win adds to Paper Stone Scissors’ growing credentials across fashion, lifestyle and retail, as the agency continues to build its Sydney presence and expand its national client roster.
