Paper + Spark expands leadership team amid healthcare growth
Independent creative communications agency Paper + Spark has expanded its senior team with a range of senior appointments and an internal promotion, as demand for specialist healthcare communications and AI-enabled engagement continues to accelerate across the sector.
This expansion reflects a broader shift in how healthcare companies are approaching creativity, communications and marketing, moving beyond awareness toward measurable behaviour change, personalised engagement, and technology-enabled delivery at scale.
Paper + Spark has promoted Margot Alais to Head of Creative and Production, a role that reflects both her contribution to the agency and the growing importance of creative leadership as the business scales. Previously Creative Lead, Alais has been a driving force in the agency’s creative output, starting off in Paper + Spark’s Sydney office in 2020 and more recently in Vancouver for the past two years. Her work has seen her recognised as a B&T 30 Under 30 winner, one of the Australian industry’s most competitive recognitions for emerging creative talent. In her expanded role, Alais will head up creative and production across the full business, bringing stronger integration between strategic communications and high-quality creative execution.
Caroline Dwyer, Client Partner, brings more than 15 years’ experience across Australia and Asia, including senior roles at Ogilvy Health, Publicis Health, and Saatchi & Saatchi Health. Along with Andrea Lobos, Client Partner, Dwyer leads the expansion of Paper + Spark’s healthcare offering, with deep expertise in strategic communications, stakeholder engagement, and complex programme delivery.
Will Wheddon, Senior Communications Specialist, brings specialist expertise in scientific communications across oncology, immunology, and metabolic disease, with a track record of developing engaging content and educational materials in close collaboration with key opinion leaders and cross-functional teams.
Emily Ma, Senior Account Manager, joins from Ogilvy Health Canada, bringing experience across healthcare and medical communications with a focus on translating complex clinical information into clear, creative and actionable campaigns that connect clinical evidence to patient and HCP audiences with clarity and impact.
Says Andrea Lobos, Client Partner Healthcare: “This is an exciting time for Paper & Spark. While we operate within a fast-paced, technology-driven industry, it is our commitment to exceptional client service, deep business expertise, and strong industry understanding that enables us to build enduring partnerships with innovative clients and meaningfully support patient needs.”
Says Founder and Chief Spark, Zeina Khodr: “We operate in a number of demanding communications environments such as Financial Services and Energy. Healthcare is by far the most demanding as the science is complex, the regulatory landscape is exacting, and the stakes for patients and healthcare practitioners are real. What’s shifting now is the expectation that creativity, communications and marketing not only inform, but drive measurable change in behaviour and outcomes. The team we’re building reflects exactly that ambition. We’re bringing together people with creative excellence, deep scientific and clinical fluency, and the strategic rigour to work at the intersection of all three. That combination is rare, and it’s what clients increasingly need.”
