Online Marketing Gurus names Wasif Kasim new CEO as focus on employee wellbeing strengthens

Independent digital marketing agency Online Marketing Gurus (OMG) has appointed Wasif Kasim as chief executive officer, Asia-Pacific.

Kasim previously held the role of managing director. The move comes as the agency shifts its primary focus on empowering and enriching the workplace, with a strong emphasis on people and culture and employee wellbeing.

Having spent the last nine years building OMG, co-founders Andrew Raso and Mez Homayunfard will now hand the APAC region reigns to Kasim while they continue their plans for global expansion into the USA and other key regions.

Kasim is a celebrated marketing leader with over 15 years experience in hands-on, strategic and data-driven business growth. Kasim has broad experience across startups, enterprises, SaaS and tech, having previously led teams from companies such as Crimson Consulting, King Content and Salmat.

Kasim emphasised his commitment to the ongoing growth of OMG: “I have watched OMG go from strength to strength over the past 3 years. From employing new infrastructure which has increased company productivity and employee well-being, to heavy investments in our ongoing Google and Facebook premiere partnerships, to an R&D function dedicated to employing the best tech for exponential growth. We have experienced global expansion thanks to a diverse and experienced team, who are revolutionising the digital agency landscape. OMG is a global agency like no other and I look forward to helping the team grow into an even more prosperous 2022 and beyond.”

Sydney-born OMG is one of Australia’s largest independent digital marketing agencies, executing enterprise-level digital advertising for businesses including Calvin Klein Australia, Vodafone and Universal Store. Despite the pandemic, the agency has experienced strong growth in the past year, expanding its local Sydney team to 130 to date.

Over the past 12 months the agency has rapidly expanded into international markets — including the US — as well as adding an extensive list of new businesses including Sheridan, Durex, Dermalogica, Stax, Cloudera and UGG Express.

Says Andrew Raso, co-founder and now executive chairman and group CEO: “OMG would not be where it is today without Wasif’s brilliant, strategic and hands-on approach. I am proud to report that the agency had its best year in 2021, despite the pandemic, and this was largely due to Wasif’s leadership as managing director. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for our agency and how we can achieve next-level growth for our employees, in turn accelerating growth for our incredible and diverse client base.”
