Nissan challenges man with the best memory in the world via Whybin\TBWA Group Melbourne
Having only recently hit the market, the Nissan Juke, Micra, X-Trail & QASHQAI, boast some of the most extensive spec updates and innovations the motoring company has released to date. So many new innovations and specifications in fact, that Nissan Australia via Whybin\TBWA Group Melbourne, recently challenged the man with the best memory in the world, Jonas Von Essen, to see if he could remember them all.
Labelled ‘The Human Spec Sheet’, a series of videos produced by Whybin\TBWA Group Melbourne sees Von Essen hurtling down an airstrip while attempting to recount every specification the cars have, from memory. From the 3-point Emergency Locking Retractor Front Seatbelts with Seatbelt Pretensioners and Load Limiters, to the really hard stuff like where the cup holders can be found.
Von Essen is given only four minutes to recount up to 138 individual specifications straight off the top of his head. Driven by professional Nissan stunt driver Samantha Reid, these memory tests take place under what can only be described as ‘challenging’ circumstances.
Says Chris Mandile, executive general manager for marketing, Nissan Australia: “It can often be challenging to fully engage wider audiences with the finer details found in a new Nissan vehicle, especially when you consider the generous equipment levels, features and performance outputs available in every model, all of which is summarised in each model’s specification or ‘spec’ sheet. These enjoyable videos are a fresh approach to a commonly used medium and they live up to our philosophy of innovation that excites.”

Love it.
In theory, it’s a really great solution to a shit brief. In practise though, it’s just not executed that well. Which is a shame, because as an idea, it’s really good.
That’s very clever and very watchable.
That’s good work right there.
Kind of cool, which is certainly different for Whybins.

That’s a really clever way to sell car features.

This is how you do car advertising. Watch and learn.
Nice content. Probably done with no money as well.
So many creatives! ECD + CD + Creative Team + etc etc etc. Whybins must be hoping for some awards on this 😉
