Melbourne’s newest film and photography studio The Get Down has opened its doors in Abbotsford, offering up a stunning state-of-the-art 100sqm studio.
Says Charlie Ward, co-founder, The Get Down: “Having worked in the film industry for over 18 years, we saw a gap in the market for a large, premium studio in inner Melbourne. With its large open plan layout, high ceilings, the option to shoot both motion and stills simultaneously without light pollution and the ability to drive cars onto set, The Get Down is unique as it is convenient to the area.”
The Get Down has been designed with a specialist’s eye and a belief that well-considered design is essential to improving the work of modern makers. It features an L shaped 10m x 2.5m film and photography cyclorama; three phase power; dedicated power outlets; 8x8m lighting grid; hair and make-up bench with lighting; lounge area; high speed internet; Spotify enabled sound system and large vehicle access.
Throughout the building there’s a strong focus on style and quality. This is evident in the stripped LED lighting, array of indoor plants and swathes of natural light. The a-frame studio ceiling is timber-lined to give the area a warm feel and its accompanying kitchen features black marble bench tops, electric oven, gas stove top, a beer tap (ready with local brew Boddriggy) and coffee machine.
