New Cloud Based VFX & Animation Studio Atmos Opens

New cloud based VFX and animation studio Atmos has launched, providing services for broadcast film, television and online content.

Led by award-winning post production specialist Andreas Wanda (pictured above), Atmos harnesses the power of the cloud to deliver fully remote-based post production solutions. The studio has already executed a number of high profile campaigns including MLA’s ‘Generation Gap’, Toyota’s ‘Barry Believes’ and The Iconic’s ‘Got You Looking’.

Atmos has a regular stable of artists it works with and also brings together specialists to suit the unique tasks required for bespoke projects. Being cloud based, artists working with Atmos have the flexibility to manage their time and the freedom to work from any location.

Commenting on the studio structure, Wanda says: “The recent COVID-19 pandemic demonstrated that most businesses could continue working without hindrance despite staff being based remotely.

“Atmos is secured with data mirrored between its in-house and cloud-based servers and our in-house render farm can scale out by harnessing the power of cloud compute power to handle even the most complex jobs. We also use powerful online tools for our review processes, which is great for marking up and adding feedback notes for amendments.

“We work closely with producers, directors, and creatives to find the most cost effective and visually striking approach to any given project. Ideally, we’d like to see the industry become more flexible and nimble utilising the myriad of cloud-based solutions available.”

Having worked with many high-profile directors over the years, Wanda has architected several pipelines and studios. Most recently, he designed a studio entirely in the cloud for feature film My Freaky Family.

In the interest of building more flexible cloud-based collaborations, Atmos has released Atmos Studios Launcher. This foundational piece of software is freely available, allowing any studio or artist the flexibility to work remotely. It allows remote artists and studios the ability to effortlessly integrate their cloud synced projects and pipeline tools.

Says Wanda: “Traditionally, this is problematic since the individual environments are unique, especially when it comes to storage paths. However, Launcher overcomes this obstacle and is very customisable and designed to be used on a per project level keeping tools and shortcuts unique to each project.”
