Motion Sickness’ Sam Stuchbury and FINCH’s Rebekah ‘Bex’ Kelly named AXIS Co-Chairs for 2027

The Comms Council has appointed new Co-Chairs for AXIS 2027. Sam Stuchbury from Motion Sickness and Rebekah ‘Bex’ Kelly from FINCH, supported by a Creative Council, will drive changes for AXIS 2027, ensuring the awards show remains the best creative awards show in Aotearoa.

Says Simon Lendrum, CEO of the Comms Council: “The appointment of Sam and Bex as co-chairs reflects the importance of both ideas and craft in creative work that delivers impact and growth for New Zealand businesses. AXIS recognises the very best creativity in a market that has gained a global reputation for outstanding advertising.”

Says Stuchbury: “People keep telling us our industry is stuffed, the future is uncertain, and apparently ideas are losing their value. Well, the kind of work celebrated at AXIS is the antidote to that. It’s creativity that can’t be rocked.

“This year, we plan to platform the truly magical power of a smart idea combined with beautiful craft. Because when world-class work rises at AXIS, it takes Aotearoa’s creative reputation with it. We hope AXIS 2027 can build on the iconic direction the show is heading in, with a few fun things along the way. Looking forward to a hot meal and a cold drink. Long live creativity.”

Says Kelly: “Having strong film and craft voices in AXIS has made it mean even more. Craftspeople in judging rooms means we are having quality discussions about the fascinating minutae of casting, or sound design, or how to judge animation.”
