Menulog turns renaissance painting into Last Supper-themed spot via Sydney agency 3rdspace
Sydney agency 3rdspace has used a little divine inspiration and created a Last Supper-themed TVC for Menulog, Australia’s number one online takeaway and home delivery site.
The satirical spot features 13 regular Aussie guys dressed in the style of Leonardo da Vinci’s famous painting, trying to decide which type of cuisine they want to enjoy for supper – Thai, Indian or pizza.
Says Rob Logan, 3rdspace director: “It’s not every day you can say your art director was Leonardo da Vinci, but the spot perfectly highlights the versatility and functionality of Menulog.com.au.”
The TV campaign, featuring 15-second and 30-second spots, launched this week on free-to-air and subscription TV.
Says Dan Katz, Menulog CEO: “Menulog.com.au revolutionised the online ordering category and we wanted an equally strong and cut-through campaign to show how easy it is to find the perfect takeaway online.”

This campaign is very offensive to Christians! I will no longer be using menulog.
So @Mike you are the official spokesperson for Christians now? Publish your full contact details so the media know where to go for comment. Thank goodness we have a spokesperson it saves us having to have opinions.
Using the last supper of Jesus by Menulog is loathsome and sickening. It represents something and profound to Christians.
My friends and I will no longer be using Menulog.
it disgusts me that a company has to stoop to low levels to promote its product. What an offensive advert. i will surely be telling my friends about this and forwarding complaints. Youve lost me as a customer
I assume then Christians that you didn’t have chocolate eggs at Easter and a tree or presents at Christmas? Sickening and loathsome abominations of Christian celebrations.
It will be a great relief that all these Christians are going to stop using Menulog, all they ever order is one fish and a loaf of bread.
Guys, get rid of this add. It’s not clever, it’s a cheap shot. It’s disrespectful and unexceptable. This is Christ’s last meal.
Take it off the air!
This is a low blow for Christians and for all non believers , you don’t believe so what’s it affect you!!…. Menu log won’t be using you any more
I to have found this very offensive , I will not be using menu log too. I will be telling all my friends as well, and I do have lot of friends
Disgusting , if it was something to do with Islam you would all be flogged but it is ok to poke fun at Christianity, I won’t be using your web site
Rather than we keep commenting here, everyone should write up a complaint through http://adstandards.com.au/make-complaint . I usually don’t blame such ignorant directors, I blame the church for allowing such acts, remember nothing goes on TV without permission. If we send our voice to the Government and to the Church this stupidity will stop. If the director is not a believer he should respect other’s belief.
If people don’ care about Jesus, well Jesus is my father and he died for me, would the director like to put any members of his family who passed away and make fun of them? Of course not.
Respect, this is a country multicultural and equal rights, and we do not need to offend each other. STOP!
I believe this to be the work of the devil. Menu log is the perfect conduit for his next great scheme to turn the world to darkness. I have seen for myself, all orders made through menulog are paid with the price of … Your soul.
Beware next time you order pizza… You may get more than you bargained for.
@Leo first sensible comment on this topic.
The Last supper painting has been parodied loads of times as the image is instantly recognisable.
Is anything actually going on in this ad that really depicts the actual goings on in the Last Supper in bad light?
Am I committing a sin when I order Pizza?
Maybe if it were to happen today, they may of used Menulog?
Opinions are like arseholes…
Menulog would have been out of business by now, if they dear to do a similar thing to a Muslim religion! Forgive them Lord for they don’t know, what they are doing!
For those that find this advert insulting, as I do, please submit your official complaint to
http://adstandards.com.au/make-complaint
Christians need to stand up and unite when Jesus, our Lord and Saviour, is made a mockery of.
With enough complaints this advert will be removed.
A Complaint was submitted to

It was dismissed on the grounds that the advert depicts the painting of the last supper and not The Last Supper itself. So is not offensive to Christians. Well I’m no holier than thou and disagree with a lot of our Christian religious beliefs but I find this very offensive.

The advertisement for Menulog is offensive to all God fearing Christians. It is neither creative or clever. It is blasphemous and because Menulog think it is amusing to sell their product in this manner I would not be surprised if they come undone in their business. I will always switch off this advertisement as soon as it appears on the screen and know others who do the same. I will never buy anything from Menulog and will advise my friends to follow suit.
Excellent advertisement MenuLog, i will be using you because of the ad. Forget the usual @#%!*& that need a god for there HOPE…. Bring on more like it 3rdspace.
WELL DONE, YOU SHOULD WIN AN AWARD FOR THIS GREAT ADD……..
This is disgusting. It is mocking the birth of Christianity!!! Could you imagine if menulog were to use the prophet Mohammed in mockery? So typical of modern Australia. Respect and be sensitive to the feelings of every colour, creed and lifestyle…..EXCEPT CHRISTIANITY !!!!!
The advertisement is offensive and cheap. Please remove the ad, I would also like an apology by the company concerned.
This advertisement is offensive to all Christians.
The management of Menulog and their advertising agency should have known better than allow such advertisement to made.
In this age of supposed “political correctness” Jesus Christ and Christianity is being insulted.
I think this TV ad is offensive to Christians and people that have some values and moral decency. In fact the advertisement is not creative or unique at all. It’s sad that some people find it okay to mock Jesus, his disciples and last super. Unless you have decent values that reflect.
I won’t be listing my 78 restaurants with your organisation, not unless you decide to change your values about respecting peoples beliefs.
Shame on you, but I’m sure Jesus will forgive you because he went through this and more in his time.
I find this advert extremely blasphemous!! If this was about the prophet Mohammed their offices would have been firebombed! Why are us Christians such soft targets??? Is time to stand up and say ENOUGH.
Or perhaps @ ValB it is time to forgive, forget, turn the other cheek, and all those other things Christians are known for doing.
