Australian music licensing platform, Melodie, has kicked off the new year with the introduction of unlimited-use music subscriptions.

Says Evan Buist, MD, Melodie: “We’re a bit like the Netflix of licensed music for content creators. It has never been easier to license great, independent music for your productions. Now you can simply sign up and pay a monthly or annual fee to enjoy unlimited access to our catalogue, knowing that every track is pre-cleared for use across all media, worldwide, in perpetuity.”

Melodie offers three simple pricing options for individuals (Single), small businesses (Business) and larger businesses (Premium), plus an Enterprise option for companies with more than 50 employees. Monthly prices start from $15 for a Single, up to $149 for a Premium subscription catering for businesses with up to 50 employees. Premium and Enterprise subscriptions also include time saving ‘one click’ mass playlist downloads, priority support and music searches.

Part of the push towards a subscription model has been to better cater to the growing content creator market.

Adds Buist (pictured above): “We’re living in a time where every minute, 500 hours of content are uploaded to YouTube alone. We’re making it easier for content creators to source and license fresh, quality music with none of the legal headaches.”

Uncanny Valley is working closely with Melodie, integrating new technologies across the platform – helping content creators find the right tracks and fast.

Says Charlton Hill (pictured above), head of music and innovation, Uncanny Valley: “Our technologies will allow Melodie to better identify and classify the emotional attributes within a music track. From AI-driven mood clustering to track comparison analysis, we have some game-changing tech on the way.”

In preparation for its 2020 launch, Melodie has welcomed Josh Shimmen (above right) to its growing team. The ex-BMG, Audio Network and The Music Network senior manager joins Melodie as sales director ANZ and joins forces with former ANW colleague, Craig Hodges (above left), who has been driving music acquisitions inside the A&R team at Melodie since last October last year.

Melodie’s support for independent local music remains a key focus, boasting a catalogue of more than 50% Australian artists alongside select international talent plus ARIA and Emmy Award winners.
