Katrina Alvarez-Jarratt departs ECD role at TBWA\Sydney after nine years with the agency

Campaign Brief can reveal that after nearly a decade with the agency, Katrina Alvarez-Jarratt has departed TBWA\Sydney, where she held the role of Executive Creative Director.

Alvarez-Jarratt, who is currently in London judging the illustration category for D&AD, leaves behind a significant legacy, having played a pivotal role in shaping some of the agency’s most awarded and culturally resonant campaigns. Her departure marks the end of a nine-year chapter at TBWA, during which time she helped steer the creative output of the Sydney office across both local and global brands.

Paul Bradbury, President & CEO TBWA Australia & New Zealand told CB: “Sadly, after 9 years, Kat Alvarez-Jarratt will be moving on from TBWA. Kat brought incredible passion and care to her work and clients. We wish her all the very best.”

A seasoned creative with over 19 years of experience across New Zealand and Australia, Alvarez-Jarratt is widely respected for her dual strength as both writer and art director.

Alvarez-Jarratt first joined the agency as Associate Creative Director in 2016 and was promoted to Executive Creative Director in late 2021. In addition to her leadership within the agency, she has played a broader industry role as a two-time National Co-Head of AWARD School and as a current member of the AWARD Council, where she continues to champion emerging creative talent.

Career highlights include a string of award-winning, culturally impactful campaigns: from Consent Labs’ ‘#Classify Consent’, which won the Grand Prix for Good at Spikes Asia, Gold at One Show, and recognition at Cannes Lions, D&AD and more – to ‘PLAY NZ’ for Tourism New Zealand, which earned TBWA’s most awarded campaign globally in 2021. Her work has twice been recognised by Fast Company as World Changing Ideas.

Before joining TBWA, she spent over five years at Clemenger BBDO, where she worked on award-winning campaigns including Foxtel FX Channel’s ‘Zombie Followers’ and Dolmio’s ‘Pepper Hacker’. Earlier in her career, she held creative roles at leading New Zealand agencies including Clemenger BBDO and Y&R Wellington.

Her next move is yet to be announced.
