Justin Drape’s Chapter One Bondi presents local art by world class artists – photographers Simon Harsent + Ingvar Kenne to exhibit next Sat, Feb 2
Bringing the local community together over interesting art, food and wine, Chapter One Café and Wine Room, owned and operated by Simone and Justin Drape, co-founder of The Monkeys, is set to present its latest exhibition next Saturday, February 2nd, showcasing the work of globally-awarded local photographers, Simon Harsent and Ingvar Kenne of The POOL COLLECTIVE.
The intimate exhibition presents Harsent’s personal and enchanting series of otherworldly New Zealand glaciers, entitled ‘The Tears of Hinehukatere’, along with Kenne’s work from series, ‘Landscape Deconstructed’, featuring raw compositions of stormy coastal images.
Harsent’s ‘The Tears of Hinehukatere’ was shot over a period of four days at a place known as Franz Josef Glacier, on the West Coast of New Zealand’s South Island. The inspiration behind the shoot follows the folklore of a Maori legend used to explain the beautiful geological anomaly of Ka Roimata o Hine Hukatere (‘The Tears of Hine Hukatere’).
For Kenne’s ‘Landscape Deconstructed’, the rich tradition of landscape photography is explored, but sets out to distance itself from its legacy of perfectionism, unspoken guidelines and aesthetic formalism. Instead, it seeks alternative ways of looking at and approaching the image of land, investigating acts of damage inflicted and subsequent restoration, with all its imperfections and misguided intentions. The result is a jagged resemblance of times past.
Chapter One hosts regular exhibitions with world-class local artists. A creative space with views overlooking Bondi Beach, Chapter One has showcased the work of high-profile photographers, including Paul Blackmore and Stuart Miller.
On Saturday 2nd February 2019, all are welcome to view the new landscapes and sample Chapter One’s gourmet platters and boutique wines.

Great, I’ll bring the Lamb and some Kwaussies.
He really has done well.
You sure about that mate?
You’d be staggered at the number of ad people who own and operate businesses outside of their agency ‘day job’.
HI ‘Dear You’
I would I’d be staggered.
How many advertising people…
own businesses outside advertising
Have founded one of the most successful agencies in Australia over the last 15 years
Sold it for $30 million?
Is happily married and a good bloke.
Please let me know.
Calm down.
The comment I was making related to Justin owning a wine bar.
Simple as that. It wasn’t a criticism of Justin. I’m also a fan.
As for your question – who else, has owned businesses outside advertising, made a lot of money (tens of millions), happily married (Singo- multiple times) and is a good bloke?
Well, David Blackley (one of the top 4 shareholders at Clem’s and owner of an award winning pub), John Singleton (everything!), Mo and Jo ( property development, retail outlets on Hamilton Island) John Zeigler, MNC’s John Nankervis, Michael Magnus and Ted Curl ( were big investors in serious art -had a gallery- property, property development, including a cafe),
That’s a few who immediately come to mind. I’m sure there are many others.
Good people like Justin, who deserve all the success they get.
