Indie creative agency Showpony Melbourne appoints Matthew Basso to general manager

Independent creative agency Showpony Melbourne has appointed Matthew Basso to general manager.

Since starting with Showpony as a fresh-faced graduate fifteen years ago, Basso has carved out a career as a leading digital strategist and account director.

Previously working with agencies Bastion and Online Circle Digital, Basso has led creative campaigns for renowned brands Blackmores, Bridgestone, Coopers Brewery, Flinders University and Sapporo. More recently his key relationships with Mondelez, Lactalis and Carmens have been the driving force behind Showpony’s growth in the Melbourne market.

Showpony Melbourne managing director Jamie Scott said Basso’s appointment to the newly created role of general manager further strengthens the growing team’s integrated service offering: “Matthew has been part of the Showpony family for a very long time and we’re proud to see him step into a role that allows him to make his mark on the business.

“Over the years, he’s proven himself to be an exceptional digital strategist and a natural leader. He’ll make a great GM for our Melbourne office.”

Basso said he was thrilled with the opportunity to lead the Melbourne team through its next phase of growth: “Showpony gave me my first break in the industry and I can’t wait to take the next step with the agency who have had my back all these years.

“We have such a good story to tell around creativity, behavioural change and consumer understanding. Now that people are back in their offices we’re busy getting out there and sharing that story.”

In his role, Basso will work directly with key clients and the senior management team to deliver outstanding creative for ambitious clients.
