After celebrating its 10 year anniversary in 2023, Sydney and L.A. based production company Entropico has announced a new addition to its directing roster, Kaius Potter.
Potter joins Entropico at a turning point for the company, as it forges into a new decade of exciting projects in advertising and originals.
Says Kyle Blanshard, executive producer, Entropico: “We’re so happy Kaius is joining the Entropico family. We’ve been watching Kaius’ incredible development over the past few years and are consistently blown away by what he achieves on screen. Entropico and Kaius have partnered together on projects in the past, and our clients have loved his work, his attention to detail, and the beautiful storytelling he accomplishes time and again. 2024 is going to be a huge year for him.”
Self-taught by documenting the subcultures he was immersed in, Potter explores and crafts stories that are edgy yet refined. He has pushed his unique style into many areas of filmmaking and advertising including TVCs, brand spots for digital first campaigns and social media, and long-form branded documentaries. His list of clients shows the breadth of his experience, with campaigns for Nike, Budweiser, Optus, Newcastle Knights, Square, Lacoste, Chivas Regal, and Jack Daniels.
Says Potter: “I feel like my journey to film is much the same as Entropico’s – we are ambitious to tell stories that are visually bold, true to culture and start a conversation.”
Potter has spent years developing a bold and exciting visual identity. His knowledge and attention to detail never overshadows his ability to tell poignant stories whilst eliciting incredible performances. His technical skills are at play across all his work – taking viewers on fast-paced journeys through the lives of both real and professional talent. His flair for transition-techniques, edgy camera movement, and a boundary-crossing mixed media approach, have made Potter a leading director in culturally relevant and youth culture driven filmmaking.
2023 saw Potter’s work drive in bold new directions, filming brand work both in Australia and overseas. His recent work includes a spot for Budweiser Japan ‘Yours To Take’, filmed in the streets of Tokyo championing the next generation of Japanese creatives, and a campaign film for beauty brand Fluff, that sensitively explores the liminal space between beauty and identity through the real unscripted voices of the brand’s community.
As Potter joins Entropico’s diverse roster of creatives, the Sydney-born company is moving into some exciting new directions.
Adds Blanshard: “Last year we released our debut feature film, ‘ONEFOUR: Against All Odds’, which went to #2 on Netflix Australia. It’s been really great to see creatives at agencies across Australia respond to the hype and cultural moment around the film. With Kaius joining our roster, we’re keen to keep pushing and pushing, creating culturally powerful pieces of work for brands and agencies.”
Adds Potter: “I can’t wait to immerse, grow and create with Entropico’s community of filmmakers and creatives.”
