Briefs for Virgin Aus and Kayo in Young Lions say yes lol
Please. You’re trying to encourage the future of our industry to be their very best and brightest with this sh*thous piece of creative? Try harder or don’t try at all. Feckin’ terrible.
Is this the end of creativity in Australia? Where the advertisement to entice advertising’s youngest, hottest and best creative thinkers to compete on the world stage resembles something far worse than a retail mattress brand puts out into the world? Is talent no longer a pre-requisite for working in the industry? Does it just take some intersectional post-millennial ‘vibe’ for equality? Where are the brains who even put this campaign out there? Have they not seen the multiple, clever, award-winning entry campaigns that have happened in this very country in the past? Why do we accept this nonsense, where the client is the industry itself, and the only limitation on the copywriter and art director is their very imagination itself. It does not surprise me why, wages and conditions aside, we are losing so much talent to overseas, while only the talentless return to head up talentless shops with no care, no dignity and no will to at least be provocative, if not original, bold and clever. We are done, I’m afraid, overtaken by mediocrity, inclusivity at the level of a daycare centre, where everyone gets an award, and everyone gets an idea, even the MD! Unfortunately, we only have our limp creative leaders to blame for it. If you are in one of these positions, or in a position where you are helping to shape the next generation of creatives, please, for all who have gone before’s sake, at least instil some passion. Maybe instil some belief. Maybe even instil some standards. Because we are not going to compete on a world stage, attract world-class talent or world-class budgets if we all say ‘wow, that’s fantastic’ to everything. Especially an award entry invite.
Did somebody just turn 30 or???
Calm down you twisted foos
It’s a small ad for a junior creative comp.
Seriously, if you get that pissed off about this, you are not happy with yourself in some other respect…focus on that and get off this blog
