DIVISION director Riley Blakeway wins Best Direction in a Music Video at ADG Awards

Riley Blakeway has taken home the metal for Best Direction in a Music Video at the ADG Awards.

A self-taught filmmaker whose work has screened at SXSW, UKMVA’s, Raindance, Ciclope, Semi Permanent and many more, Blakeway continues to push boundaries in Australian filmmaking through his unique, authentic perspective. This prestigious award confirms Blakeway’s status as a singular voice on the roster at DIVISION, where directors continue to produce distinctive, groundbreaking work globally.

The poetic clip explores themes of fragile masculinity, small-town mentality and modern Australia’s lack of natural identity. Pieced together in a series of composed, richly textured vignettes – Blakeway’s protagonist Trevor moves recklessly through his rural middle-class kingdom, living out his disassociated Aussie-outlaw fantasy.

Blakeway has since directed spots for Westpac, Uber Eats, Specsavers and worked with Gensis Owusu on several music videos.
