Devondale celebrates 2500 Aussie dairy families in emotive new TV commercial via DDB Melbourne
Devondale, Australia’s largest dairy co-operative, has launched an emotive TV commercial via DDB Melbourne that aims to turn the spotlight onto the 2500 dairy farmers that make up the company.
The poetic spot, voiced by famed Australian actor Robert Grubb, was shot on Devondale properties across the country, and features Devondale farmers and their families through the course of a day.
DDB Executive Creative Director Darren Spiller: “We tend to take dairy for granted. The reality is that these products only make it to our shelves because of the dedication of dairy farmers and their families. Hopefully this campaign does their hard work justice.”
Suzanne Douglas, Devondale General Manager Innovations, Marketing and Special Projects: “There’s a very human side to the Devondale brand, and that is our incredible farming families. This campaign aims to shine a light on this critical part of our brand DNA. The intention is that it gives all Australians an insight into the passion and dedication of our dairy farmers and their families, and as a result of this we are able to produce a wonderful range of Devondale products.”
The spot entitled ‘Morning Strangers’ was shot by renowned directors Mark Molloy and Stephen Carroll through Exit films.

And god created a farmer…
This will put you to sleep.
I thought Simon was meant to be a cd
What happened to Dev & Dale? Guys? Why aren’t you continuing that emotive homage to Aussie farmers?
Guys?
Shameless rip off.

Nothing orginal

passion and dedication = wonderful products. So why personify these people when you first arrived GM of special projects as Dev and Dale?
And think there is a bit of pinching the Jonsey Milk logo going on as well
What pretentious twaddle. The farmers don’t make the milk, cows do. And I’m sure the public will ask by name for Devondale dairy products, refusing all others with the plaintiff cry “No, I want the one in the ad voiced by ‘famed actor Robert Grubb’ “(who, I’ll warrant, is completely unknown to all but one percent of us ad types who’ve seen a thousand casting sessions over the past few decades. In fact I bet all bloggers under 50 haven’t got a clue who he is).
It’s a great ad, saw it on TV last night and actually took the time to watch it.
Guys, this is an exact ripoff of this spot too:

because they’re both television commercials.
trolls
If you’re going to copy an advert, at least try make it better then the original.
I see what you did there. Amusing.
But seriously guys, stop ripping off commercials to make commercials.
I like it. Nice one guys.
I’m waiting for one of you to accuse them of ripping off their own work as well…
Although it’s well done, I don’t think this style of commercial is unique enough to actually be a ‘concept’ to rip off anyway.
What a beautiful commercial! I am disappointed at most of the comments before mine – what a bunch of twaddle yourselves!!
Dairy farming is incredibly difficult, tiring and stressful and this is a wonderful tribute to the humanity involved. I have recorded this commercial and will never tire of watching it and how grateful if makes me feel. Most people I have spoken with ate glad to see the back of Dev and Dale!
Blatant and obnoxious attempt to tug at the heart strings.
