CHEP wins Best of Show for Michael Hill ‘The Jewellers’ at 2023 BADC Awards; VMLY&R leads medal tally with 17, Publicis Worldwide with 13

CHEP Network has taken out Best of Show at the 2023 Brisbane Advertising and Design Club Awards for its campaign ‘The Jewellers’ for client Michael Hill Jewellers at the awards held on Saturday night. Michael Hill Jeweller was also named Client of the Year.
It completed a big night for CHEP Network who took home three gold, a silver and a bronze in addition to the Best of Show.
CHEP Network were awarded for its campaign work with Michael Hill Jeweller including tapping into the company’s heritage and recreating the true story behind the brand — a love affair that started in 1964 when Michael Hill met Christine.
Says Marcus Tesoriero, panel chair and chair of judges: “There was some really exciting work in contention for Best of Show, but ultimately we decided that this piece was in a class of its own. The level of craft was a feature the judges couldn’t stop talking about. It showed an obvious creative commitment from the client to take the brand to a new level.”

Based on total medals, VMLY&R took home a total of 17 medals, closely followed by Publicis Worldwide with 13.
VMLY&R’s work for Standard Procedure & Melanoma Patients Australia “Sunny Death Metal” was the most awarded across the show taking home 7 Bronze as well as a Gold in Integrated Digital Campaign and a Silver in Integrated Campaign.
New production company specialising in social first content, Content Lion, took home Silver and three bronze in Cinematography, Direction, and Editing in their first awards show entry.
Brainheart/Signet once again had a great year with their campaign Allegedly taking home a gold for Sound – Original Composition for Roy Kolberg, Silver for direction for Rem Bruijn and Damien Bredberg, and a bronze for Editing – Branded Content for Roy Kolberg.
Visual effects and animation studio, Squeak, also took home the trifecta with Gold for Visual Effects, plus Silver and Bronze for Animation and Motion Design.
The 2023 BADC Awards were again held at the Fortitude Music Hall in Brisbane. The highly anticipated event for Brisbane’s creative scene was again sold out with 450 people in attendance.
Post production studio 3P Studio signed up earlier this year as major sponsor for the 2023 BADC Awards.
A Hall of Fame induction was made on the night honouring the late Mark Toia, the highly respected Brisbane-based TVC and film director who passed away recently after a short illness.
Says Stuart Myerscough, president, BADC: “The quality of world class work on display in this year’s awards is truly inspiring and is a real testament to the health of Brisbane’s creative community.
“Our judging panel had an extremely difficult job to do, and we congratulate all the medallists and finalists on their truly outstanding creative work and look forward to next year, which will mark the 50th year of the Brisbane Advertising and Design Club.”
