Cannes Lions features Australia’s VANDAL to showcase how “creativity moves us forward”

Cannes Lions has featured VANDAL as the first Australian example of how creativity, quick-thinking and invention are employed to solve some of the issues we’re collectively facing during isolation.

Cannes Lions states: “Creativity is more important than ever before, but it’s not easy to be creative under the confines we face. VANDAL’s ‘Wild Hearts’ Virtual Art Exhibition, which was set up to support those devastated by the recent bushfires in Australia, was a great example of quick-thinking, creative invention.”

Says Emile Rademeyer, VANDAL: “VANDAL was due to host the opening art exhibition of ‘Wild Hearts’ during the height of Covid-19 restrictions. Set to be the highlight of the annual Sydney Art Month, months of hard work were hanging in the balance.

“With VANDAL unable to continue with a physical exhibition opening, we invited Sydney’s creatives, producers, artists and filmmakers to join by means of a Virtual Art Exhibition and live feed.

“As thousands of people joined the Virtual Art Exhibition, the bespoke Wild Hearts Augmented Reality filter spiked with over 5,000 participants proudly supporting the charitable cause.

“Not bad for an exhibition nobody attended in person. And, with the virtual exhibition still running, artworks continue to sell on a weekly basis.”

The ‘Wild Hearts’ Exhibition is running throughout May with works viewable on the VANDAL website. 30% of all sales are being donated to WIRES (New South Wales Wildlife Rescue Service) in response to the devastating bushfire season this year.”
