Cancer Council revives its ‘Slip Slop Slap Seek Slide’ campaign via Archibald/Williams

Cancer Council and Archibald/Williams have launched a national sun protection product campaign today, reminding Australians to “Slip, Slop, Slap, Seek and Slide” this summer.

From a young boy pulling on his rashie, to a family dashing across a hot sandy beach with their shade, the campaign tells the story of how to “get sun set” in a series of relatable family moments. Through each step of “Slip, Slop, Slap, Seek and Slide”, we see snapshots of what getting the family ready for a day outdoors really entails.

The TV, outdoor and social campaign leverages the iconic 1981 “Slip, Slop, Slap” slogan, and even borrows the melody from the original jingle voiced by Sid the Seagull.

With an expanded SunSmart message that includes “Seek shade” and “Slide on sunglasses”, the campaign continues to promote each of the five forms of sun protection through Cancer Council’s latest range of sunscreen, sunglasses, hats, clothing and shade solutions.

Says Matt Gilmour, creative director, Archibald/Williams: “We all know that we’ve got to protect ourselves from the Aussie sun, but we don’t all know there are five ways to do it – or how easy it is with Cancer Council products. Helping Cancer Council to spread the word about Slip, Slop, Slap, Seek and Slide has been fun for us and if this campaign helps to prevent skin cancer in any way, we’ll be incredibly proud.”

Says Professor Sanchia Aranda, CEO, Cancer Council: “Today, two in three Australians will be diagnosed with skin cancer by the age of 70, so Cancer Council’s work in cancer prevention remains a priority. Funded by our licensees, this new campaign marks the launch of Cancer Council’s new range of sun protection products, which includes high quality hats, swimwear, sunglasses, sunscreen and shade solutions. It is also a call out to all Australians to get sun set by using five forms of sun protection to help reduce their skin cancer risk.

“It has been a pleasure working with Archibald/Williams. The team has developed a fantastic campaign that breathes new life into the ‘Slip, Slop, Slap, Seek, Slide’ slogan that Australians know and love.”
