Cadbury Releases Heartwarming ‘Bus’ TVC via VCCP London To Show Everyday Acts Of Kindness
Today Cadbury launches a new campaign in Australia across TV, VOD, Online and Social which shows how even the smallest gesture can bring a smile to someone who needs it. The 30 second spot was created by VCCP London and once again directed by Fréderic Planchon (who previously directed “Mum’s birthday”).
The latest spot shows a little boy travelling home on the bus with his mum, clutching a bar of Cadbury Dairy Milk he’s been told to save for later. He tries to distract himself but then notices a distressed teenage girl nearby. The story concludes with a simple, unexpected act of kindness from our little boy, uncertain at first, but eventually offering his bar to the girl. Demonstrating there really is a glass and a half in everyone.
The campaign is launching in Australia from Sunday 10th May across TV, VOD, Online and Social. The 30 second ad was created by VCCP and once again directed by Fréderic Planchon (who previously directed “Mum’s birthday”).
Anthony Ho, Brand Equity Director, Chocolate & Biscuits, ANZ at Mondelēz International said, “Cadbury Dairy Milk is something generations of Australian families have grown up with. So our new advert is for everyone, reminding them of the big meaning even the smallest acts of kindness can have.”
Darren Bailes, ECD for VCCP added, “We’ve all been there – on a bus or a train and seen someone sad and upset. Most of the time we look away, minding our own business. But the generous hearted amongst us know better. This film tells that story. We are incredibly proud of this work.”

Ah, the new rounded corner bar – 8% less product, 0% price difference
They must be running a cut-down version in Australia because the bit about saving it for later is either missing or so subtle I missed it. Nicely produced though, so faint praise for that at least.
Pay your fucking taxes
What does the mother say to her son at the end of the commercia?, I can’t hear what she says.
Old CD Guy, there is a longer version where the mum tells him to save his chocolate and another version where he’s just offering it to the girl, Brenda Verdier, she says she can have some of his chocolate after he’s nice to the upset girl, she says something like “only one piece”
This little man’s soulful eyes and kindness is something we all need in our everyday lives……..finally an ad that makes one feel humanity toward each other…..
Wd have been a better advert if the little boy had given the whole bar of chocolate to the girl on the bus!
