Bunnings UK has officially launched with a campaign created by Australia’s The Brand Agency, the WPP owned agency which recently set up shop in London to service the business.
The first Bunnings store is on Griffiths Way, St. Albans, just north of London. The launch spot invites UK punters to discover more about the leading home improvement and outdoor living retailer in Australia and New Zealand, and learn what to expect from the new UK store as the staff share their first thoughts.
The Brand Agency has offices in Perth (where Bunnings was founded), Melbourne, Auckland and now London.

Well there’s a surprise!
As unfashionable as it might sound, I think Bunnings is the best advertising campaign in Australia. The in-store experience is a perfect expression of the advertising promise and the advertising promise is a perfect expression of the in-store experience. Both the campaign and the experience seamlessly combine to create the perfect example of the old McCann’s philosophy -‘Truth Well Told’. I could imagine the agency’s first presentation of this campaign didn’t result in the client jumping up and screaming “Amazing! Genius!”, but my congratulations to the Bunning’s client [and their agency] who recognised the magic in this campaign that many clients and agency people couldn’t [and still can’t]. In a world where everyone is obsessed with ‘amazing’,’awesome’ and ‘different’, what a joy it is to see a campaign that doesn’t claim to be anything but an accurate reflection of a brand in all its’ ordinariness. In my world that makes the Bunning’s campaign the most amazing and awesome campaign of them all.
